First it was the boards now i am scraping the tip on the 2 into 2 VH big radius, i was thinking i might have to raise the bike back up but too late now so i will leave it and see how much is going to wear off the end of the pipe.( and i dont go that hard on it).

mate, I just got used to it. In the beginning it did my head in.

Put some of that clear nail polish shit on where you scraped so it doesnt rust, and when you scrape again next time just re apply

    Cheers

Try turning the ends of the heat shields out a bit to get a little bit more clearence, worked for me!

It's a coincidence you post this.

I scraped the tip of my heat shields on my Big Radius around a roundabout on Friday arvo.First bit of damage I've done to the girl.Fuck it was annoying.

I've had the softy lowered a fair bit.I might get them to lift it half an inch while it's on the stand during it's first service.

If anyone has some immaculate chrome heat shields they want to part with,I'm all ears.

I've done my V&H pipe as well, scrapped it good and proper. BUT, i'm a fat bastard, and with the fat comes the heavyness, that's the clincher, i had one of my sons on the back, and we're tooling along around Newcastle, and i'm scrapping on every right hand corner, i'm thinking it's the foot board, but nah, it's the pipe. Yeah i was annoyed at first, but i did buy the thing to ride not just park up at the pub. I'm surprised the amount of stone chips on the fork legs and i got 2 good ones on the tank, not to happy about that, BUT, what do you do?

Bikes were meant to be ridden, not sit in a garage...

    +1.

I didn't pay all that money to leave it in the garage [or living room, actually - lol ]

Does it look like this? where it is scraped it is actually dented and the frame recieved a bit of rash as well all from a small bump in the middle of a corner on the Great Ocean Road today. it was still a great ride but now the bike has some added character. I don't know how you guys with lowered bikes do it mine is standard and scapes the boards all the time.

Ouch!! That looks nasty Henry. I've still got the stock pipes (with Rush slipons) and the bottom one I recently scrapped when I had the missus on the back. Wasn't even going fast either round that right hander.

Shocks are stock and I have them pre-loaded to setting 3 as it's a bit more responsive than the number 4 setting it was on when I bought it. Unfortunately it also makes it a bit lower to the ground.

Still......bugs the shit outta me because it's not pristine anymore.

So Train, you reckon putting clear nail polish on the scars will stop it from rusting? Wonder if the missus will let me use hers

I have caned the underside of my Freedom Signature Slipons on my Dyna Street Bob, at first I was a bit pissed, but after a while I just stopped caring. They can stay scratched as fuck, whenever I look at it I just think that I was giving the bike a little up the curves, so what else could I expect? Hasn't changed the way I like to corner on my bike one bit.

I've scraped by foot boards, then I scraped the foot board brackets and have graduated to scraping the SE pipes. When I did the pipe I thought what the hell have I damaged now, glad I'm not alone on this one.

Thats a fairly fucked way to come off a bike.

I'd hate to see what the road rash did to the bloke ridin it.
