Another case of BS media sensationalism. Sounds more like a tragic accident....but hey, why not beat it up to get some mileage. Irresponsible fuckwits.

Boy, 9, killed 'by bikie gang member

A nine-year-old Melbourne boy has died after being run over by a man thought to be a member of the Rebels Motorcycle Club.

The child was walking home from a local park in the south-eastern suburb of Springvale when he was run over by the bike, which was heading towards the Rebels clubhouse at 5.30pm yesterday, the Herald Sun reports.

Shortly after the accident, about 15 Rebels bikies wearing club patches arrived at the scene.

Police and paramedics arrived but were unable to resuscitate the boy and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His distressed parents turned up soon after police had roped off the road but were taken away in tears upon hearing the news.

The driver of the motorbike was taken to hospital for treatment and is assisting police with their inquiries.

His motorbike did not appear to be damaged but was towed away for police testing.

The boy became the fourth victim of Victoria's roads yesterday.

Two men also died when the cars they were driving collided at an intersection in Bendigo, in central Victoria, about 1.40am (AEDT).

Three passengers in one of the cars suffered serious injuries and were all taken to Bendigo Base Hospital.

Hours later, a man died when the car he was a passenger in crashed into a barrier on High Street, Melton.

The driver, a 28-year-old Heidelberg Heights man, was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries.

Passers-by discovered the car just before 9am and investigators are trying to establish when the crash happened.

Meanwhile a St Albans man is fighting for life in hospital after he fell from a moving car.

Police believe the 38-year-old man was sitting in the passenger seat of a stationary car when he had an argument with the driver.

He got out of the car and when the driver tried to take off, he jumped on the bonnet.

The car hit a gutter, and the man fell and hit his head.

A 37-year-old St Albans man is helping police with their inquiries.

Victoria's road toll now stands at 262, one more than at the same time last year.

Yes, just read that headline when i turned puter on, then read the short summary and thought WTF have a headline like that ... it basically makes people put blame on the rider without knowing any details .... and the police took the bike away for testing, my guess is they will look for some sort of defect to put blame on the rider wether he's completely inoccent or not.
R.I.P. young fella, my heart goes out to the family.
Onya Rebel's for paying your respects at the scene.

It is the Editor in Chief who needs to get their act together.

If it was the cops who ran the young fella over - it would be the same sensationalism.

It was simply a tragic accident.

    RIP Young Fella.

Some very nice positioning of the story in the rag too.....

Apart form the headline "9 yo mowed down" they placed a follow up story about the Bandidos guy who got shot on the opposite page.

Gives them a whole double page spread of bad ass bikie news.

Ballieue will be pulling his cock.

Just completely irresponsible and unprofessional reporting. The next sorry installment....bring in the "disabled" brother

Boy, 10, saw brother run over by bikie

A 10-year-old boy with Asperger's Syndrome saw his younger brother run over and killed by a bikie in Melbourne, and fled home in distress to tell his parents of the accident.

Hayden Tingey, 9, died after a man on a motorbike slammed into him while he was walking home from a local park with his older brother Ryan, in their south-eastern neighbourhood of Springvale, about 5.30pm yesterday.

The boys' father, Jeff Tingey, told the Herald Sun he raced onto the street to see Hayden lying on the ground.

"[The bikie] was there when I got there. I can't remember [if he said anything]," he said.

"He just had blood on his face."

Nine News reports the Rebels gang member was today cleared of any wrongdoing.

The accident happened around the corner from the family's home and 200m from the Rebels' bikie clubhouse.

Shortly after the accident, about 15 Rebels bikies wearing club patches arrived at the scene.

Police and paramedics were also quick to reach the accident but were unable to resuscitate the boy. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Tingey said the family was not blaming anyone but urged motorists to slow down when driving.

"It's an accident unless proven otherwise… Slow down, especially in built up areas. It's not worth children's lives."

Hayden's mother, Robyn Tingey, said her son was a selfless and happy boy who would always think of others before himself.

the herald sun reported that all the "bikies" had beards and mustaches and pictured a harley (not the one involved in the incident)

its sickens me that the news paper will use the death of an innocent boy to hype up their story

RIP little fella my heart goes out to the family and to the poor bloke that was unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and will no doubt be feeling pretty fucking awful.

The ABC has a different take on it:

Boy dies after being hit by motorcycle

    Posted December 04, 2011 10:51:04

Police are speaking to a motorcycle rider who hit and killed a nine-year-old boy in Melbourne's south-east.

Here's a different take on the article - if we were all painted with the same brush...

Three passengers in one of the cars, GANG MEMBER of the chess association, 1 GANG MEMBER of the PCYC community and the other is thought to be a GANG MEMBER of the Boy Scouts suffered serious injuries and were all taken to Bendigo Base Hospital.
Hours later, a man known to associate with the father – a GANG MEMBER of GREENPEACE died when the car he was a passenger in crashed into a barrier on High Street, Melton.

Passers-by also gang members of various notorious associations discovered the car just before 9am and investigators are trying to establish when the crash happened.
Meanwhile a St Albans GANG MEMBER from the local book club is fighting for life in hospital after he fell from a moving car.
Police believe the 38-year-old GANG MEMBER was sitting in the passenger seat of a stationary car when he had an argument with the driver.

Good for a laugh however, we don’t portray any other group of people with such a negative stereotype, yet in the original article it was made out that the boy died not from being hit by a motorcyclist (as the story should have been written) but as a detrimental delinquent to society of a motorcycle gang.
Regardless of any and all of the groups WE ALL choose to be a part of in our lives, we are ALL still individuals. I doubt the motorcyclist cares about the patch on his back as opposed to the fact that he has sadly taken the life of a child.
RIP young lad and condolences to all.

    Sad news for all involved.
Sadder after reading tripe like that story.
I for one am sick of the media making up their own facts before the truth comes out.

Stating as fact that a member of any club or organisation is "responsible" for the death of a child is the most obscene reporting .
If a person ran out in front of a train and was killed is it the action of the train driver or the action of the running in front of him that caused the death. ?
It is the Murdock and fairfax media organisations that need to get their collective together.Gutter media at it's best, once more!!!!!!!!!!
Do they have special seminars to train these people how to twist stories around to sensationalize them to within a fraction of the original .?

RIP to the nipper and condolences to his family and friends.
    Respect to the rider involved.

arn't we all bad  1 way way or another for riding motorbike's  because we don't confirm too what other people think normal is , in 1978 i hit a young child on my 1969 model Triumph  Trident the little girl ran right out in front of me  when i was going thrugh a set of lights in newtown on a sat morning she was in a rush too get too the other side where her mother was ,   she was about 9-10 yrs old , i hit the brakes & went hard left but i couldn't stop enough & she ran into my right hand fist that was hard on the front brake hit her right in the side of the head & turned her upside down  in the air her shoe marks were on top of my fuel tank ,  i nearly smash into the parked cars  trying too move out of her way .     she was very lucky & so was i , there was a lot of people around shopping but nobody would  help out  even when i ask they just look with blank face's ,      i took her too her mother who was on the train station  a far -way away ,  young childen can just run out in front of you   it's 1 thing i will never forget  out of aleast about 60 motorbike accidents  that iv'e had over the years, ,

it's a realy bad shame for the young man & his parent's

for the sake of a split second it could happen to any of us.
I'll never forget one time in Thailand when a little girl ran out in front of me, it was so sudden I didn't have time to do anything.

Thinking about it later on I realised I hadn't even hit the brakes until after I had passed her. For the sake of a half a dozen centimeters it could have been traumatic.

Just goes to show, it's not only the road and all the cages you've got to watch constantly, it's the footpaths as well.

I'd be wondering: where was the mother?
Why wasn't she watching her kids, making sure they were safe?

The good thing posted by the media was the fact that 15 Rebels got there straight away.

I think this is important and hope the population realises that they were very concerned as well.

The parents and the rider will suffer until they die.Its something you wish on no one.Its 50 years ago sinse my best mate and I came out of the movies on a Saturday arvo as kids and he ran across the road in front of a car and I screamed at him to stop and he did. If he had have kept running the car would have missed him.I still can hear the noise in my head today as the car hit him and I can still see his blond hair red with blood as clear as if it was yesterday as he lay there. Some things never go away
