Posting this up for a mate whos looking at buying a 74 sporty thats been sitting on a verandah for 20 odd years. There trying to come up with a price but are unsure as to what its worth, he rang the local hd dealer and he reckoned $17K but that seems a bit excessive. Bikesales seems to value the 73 and 74 model a lot higher than any other models. Any help would be appreciated.
Yeah thats what i thought, Just thought there may have been something special bout the 74 model, I'l have to tell the HD guy to get off the crack. Funny how he wasn't interested in buying it. Might offer $2-$3K and see how he goes. He hopes to get some photos soon, Il post em up if i get em.
hi, 1972&73 arn't the 1's too buy , the 1974 was the last of the real sporty's as such the last of the right foot shifters left brake , in 1975 everybike in the world was made left foot shifters by-law as too not cause accident's for the shit rider's that can't handle them, , + 74sporty had the later thicker barrells & g/box casting etc , if the sporty is all original that would be great but more than likley not as most of these have been gotten @, if it's in bad shape 2-3 K max , if it's original in bad shape 4-5 +K, i have had early cast iron sporty 's for year's since 1980-1 , i have a 1974 in rebuilt nic with mod's + a 1961 model set -up for track use ,
if in Sydney i could look @ her ?
