    Hi Guys,

Since buying my blackline I have had trouble finding someone who actually knows about the best mods for my blackline, it is the 96 motor so i presumed plenty of people would offer advice.

My dealer just went to the SE book and ummed and ahhed about what cams and in the end I knew more from reading up on the net. Same goes for a well known indy I spoke to. All they suggest is to do a stage 4 SE kit. I dont really want a stage 4 SE kit.

Maybe someone on here can help me. I would like an new intake, exhaust and tuner, and maybe a set of cams. should i do head work etc etc..

    So far I am at

    • Heavy Breather
    • VH Big radius
    • And a  new SE for the 96 that is called stage 2 but doesnt upgrade to 103, pack that includes 254e cams, tuner, pushrods and clutch spring

All this quoted at the dealer is about 3k.

What I want is someone to discuss is this the best package for the 96 softy that I commute on. I want grunt but I dont tour and dont drag race the bike either. I want reliablity, good sound and plenty of roll on grunt. Any ideas ?? or people to speak to ??

    thanks...

    Mate,

I have the 103 Stage 4 upgrade on my 2009 Softail.

What I can say (from my point of view) i'm glad I dont use mine to commute.

Thanks Dicko  and I understand that this has been done to death but none of the threads seem to suit what I am after.

From what I can gather to do pipes, cleaner and tuner I am looking at 2k where as for 3k I can have cams as well. How much should I really be paying and who should I talk to ??

I ran the BargeGlide as a Stage 1 till the day after the new bike warranty expired, then threw in a set of cams and got a much bigger grin.

That's it for me----- till next year.....

Hey Trek next time your in the Entrance we can discuss this over lunch,
save your money and do air cleaner, slip ons and V&H Fuel Pak is cheap now and works fine..
you can try mine if you like, its not worth stripping parts from a new motor under warranty...
Give it some time to loosen up and then see what you think.......

Thanks heaps for the replies eveyone. I am getting a better idea of what I need and what is the best way to do it.

I really wish i was mechanical myselg but I am frickin useless on the tools. Wish I could buy a heap of stuff from the states or whereever and fit it myself. However being a mechanical retard I am a bit stuck :(
