Hi fellas, finally got my stage 1 done. Had the V&H pipe & SE tuner sitting here teasing me for the last couple of months while I shopped around for an air cleaner set-up. Had a squiz on the NRHS web-site & found the round billet air cleaner, sorted out colour/pattern etc with Dan then 3.5 weeks from ordering to delivery. I also wanted an air cleaner without the internal breathers so it fit the bill perfectly.

The pipe is insanely loud (compared to the old Khrome Werks slip ons I had on anyway) but I have a quiet baffle for it which is supposed to turn the volume down a bit without losing the deep note. Performance-wise the pipe seems to really be at home at freeway speeds, seems a tad sluggish right down low but hopefully some fine tuning & the baffle may just help this out. Got a heat shield on the way for the rear header too. Hope the bugger fits.

Anyway thought some of you may be interested, especially in the air cleaner as you don't see this one every day.

    Cheers,

    Slap.

The catch can breathes through small holes in the lid (facing upwards). There is a sponge in the lower half of the can to catch the oil blow-by. I was aware of the possible mess issue when I bought it & will grab a length of hose to route it down to the bottom of the motor if need be. I spoke to Dan (NRHS) about it though as he has the same breather on his wife's sporty & he said he's had no issues at all. At the end of the day I'd rather the oil blows out than back into my intake. Thanks for the input though.
