A couple of Sundays ago me and some mates went on a ride to Sussex Inlet and back. Well we all got back fine and then broke up to go home. I filled up at Narellan and was on the way home and was pulled over for RBT.
Well I did as was asked and then this dumb ass cop started to tell me that my stage 2 heavy breather was not up to EPA standard or legal.
Of cause I took a stance and said it was legal.
He said it should have a steel cover over it . Then he told me my SE mufflers were ilegal. Well I saw red and told him that I had bought this bike new in 09 and had all this on it when I picked it up.
He called his mate over and told me to get of the bike and hand over rego papers and licence. I did this and then he and mate went over the bike with a fine tooth comb. Kept me there for 30 minutes then gave me back my papers and licence. Told me to get the breather fixed and that next time he sees me he'll pull me over and defect bike.
I phone up HD dealer and told him what happened. He told me that in the HD cat all those parts are legal and fine to use in Aust.
Now I carry both pages that I tore out from my old HD CAt with me and can not wait till BONE head and mate pull me over again.
Have to also say that this COP said he was at one time RIDE CAPTIAN for the LIVERPOOL Chapter. I asked at SY's and they didn't know of him. I should have taken down his name.
Pissed me off no end all this after a great ride to boot.
They need a special Scozz headbutt!!
Fukn tosspots, they make ma blood boil!
Yeah gotta admit have not had abad run with coppers. Me and a mate got pulled over for RBT just outa Appin a while ago. Young copper did the breath test then said to both of us "these bikes look heavily modified to me". I just said nah mate , thats how they come now. All legal I asure you. Silly bugga agreed, and said gee there nice nower days. Both bikes were dynas with V&H black ceramic short shots, stage 1 air intakes and race chips. Some coppers I think are still drinking there bath water!!!. As far as I know if your pipes are under the sound limit there no problem
Andrew, If I were you I'd be getting some Unifilter or similar Foam filter oil ASAP.
I would never run a foam filter dry. Link from S&S:
