    Ive just bought a new project bike ,

    After going as far as I could on my 2006 , I thought I would like to build up some thing eles , After a little bit of hunting I found a 1995 Hugger which would do the job just fine ,

    I also thought that I would shair the build with you guys,  So Im calling it Project Geekster,

    The Bikes not a bad old thing,  It also has some goodies that I will be keeping on it like the PM Front Brakes , Super Trapp Exaust and a Sreaming Eagle Fork Brace , I took the bike in for a RWC yesterday and all it needed was one Globe , So now I can start ,

    The plan is just a mild custom , I have a stack of left over parts from my Bike like a 21" Front Wheel ,Custom Triple Trees, Mirrors, and a Late model Solo Seat that I bought on Ebay cheep as well as one of the Air Cleaners that I make,

    Im going to pull a few favors from mates that owe my , I have a friend that has a Soda Blasting Business, so he is getting a call next week and I will be ringing one of my Panel Beating buddys soon after for some Custom Painting

    On the whish list is Lowered Shocks , Forword Controls, Handle Bars and Risers and a 41/2 head light as well as a Side mounted Tail Light and Mini Indicators . They will be on the Credit Card with JP Cycles very soon.

    So stay posted for updates as the parts go on over the next few weeks.

    Good stuff Walka, sounds like a great project. I've been looking to do a similar thing, ie project bike. I'm kinda thinking of going for a '70's Sporty.

    Im with you there King , Im dying to do a 74 Iron Head Hard Tail , But every one has been talking my out of it , So I thought I would do this one first , then if it all go's well a Iron Head is on the cards

    LETS GET THE BALL ROLLING ,

      First thing is to get rid of the Ham Can Air Cleaner and fit one of mine

    First of all, undo the two screws that hold on the Cover

    Then un Screw the two Breather Bolts and chuck that ugly thing in the BIN

    Next Assemble the New Breather Hose and Filter

    Then fit the New Bracket and Breather kit to the Engine , you should use a little bit of Locktite on the Banjo Breather Bolts

    Next up is to Mount the Main Body , again you need to use Locktite on the Screws

    Then Fit the New Performance Air Cleaner 

    WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE

    I just need to get the Carbie Rejeted

    Next Job is to replace the Seat with something newer

    I bought a 2007 Solo Seat on Ebay for $90.00 , stay tuned as I have muck around to fit it

    Ive just got of the phone to VPW and ordered the Parts I need for the Front ,

    Im sticking with the Narrow Glide but Im replacing the Trees with the one's that I removed from my 1200 Custom ,
    I ordered a 4 1/2 Head Light , Im going with a 4 1/2 because they suit Narrow Glides well and 6" Risers with Drag Bars ,

    They also had a Long Front guard in the clearance centre for $29.00 marked down from $161.00 , so I thought why not , If it dosn't look rite I can always bung it on Ebay

    Todays Project was an easy one ,, Mounting the late Model Solo Seat

     

    All you need is to make up a bracket for the Tab on the Front of the seat to Slip into . I used a peace of 12mm Flat bar about 150 mm Long and Bent it into the Shape that I needed

    Then Worked out where to weld it on to the Frame

    Then after Welding it on , Just Mount the Seat and Drill a Hole for the Rear Screw ,,,,, The hole job took 15 minutes.

     

     

    Next I Started on Removing the Head Light ready for the new one ,, I couldn't belive the amount of wires that a packed in there,   Im not to good with Wiring but I am good with a 5" Angle Grinder

    HEADLIGHT GONE  WIRING INTACT ..........................

    TODAYS UPDATE
    Placed and order for Forword Controls and 11" Shocks  last night and Mini Bullet Indicators form a guy on Ebay.

    Tonight I will be placing an Order for Hand Grips, Side Mount Rego Holder and a Pair of Wet Dreamz Pipes ,

    Head light and Bars arrived today YIPPY ,
    LOOKS LIKE IM SPENDING THE WEEKEND IN THE GARAGE

    Today was 21" Front Wheel , Handle Bars , Risers and Headlight ,

    The 21" Wheel was a left over  from my  06 1200 , Both bikes have the same Axle size , So Wheel whent sraight on,

    But the Later Wheel has a larger Hub Flange where the Disc Rotor Bolts on to ,,, So during the week I will get the Centre of the Disc Bored out ,, Easy

     

    Next was to fit the Head Light , I bought a 4-1/2" and I was going to mount it in the stanard spot , But then Acouple of the boys can over and put there 10 cents worth in , and after lots of  arguing and them reminding me that I was Customising a Sportster the Head Light ended up mounted to the Top Of the Trees ..

    AND IT'S NOT TO BAD THERE

    Then it was on to the Risers , Bars  and Mirors

    I whent with 6-1/2"  beacause I wanted to turn the Bars down more that normal without over streching , So 6-1/2" was the right length ,

    Now I just have to workout were to mount the Speedo ????

    Its a bit hard to tell from that photo post one from further back , on your new bike walka what have you done with the front end there is that a wide front ?

    Today some thing Quick and Easy  , LOSE THE 14" SHOCKS

    I wanted to lower the Bike but not as low as my 2006 , I have 10" Shocks on that one, Which look great but it's a bitch in corners, So the plan was 11" on this one ,

    The other reason was that Im building the bike up is for a very close freind who broke his Neck in a Trucking Accident  about 10 years ago , Things are pretty tough for him and his family, so I thought he would enjoy helping with the build and then get out of the house and hit the road with me on weekends with the Bikes ...... He's a big boy so 11" Shocks should do the trick..  

     

    iT'S REALY STARTING TO TAKE SHAPE NOW

    The only thing is that it's ended up a little lower than I wanted ,  But looks great

    I need to spend the next couple of nights inside to keep the Miss's Happy

    The Pipes, Forword Controls , Gaurd, and Side Mount Tail Light will have to wait for the weekend  Then it's a strip out and of to the Painters

    Looking good Walka, how did you mount the headlight on the top like that did you build a mount for it?

    I made a bracket then used the top chrome plate for my old tipple trees from my 1200 C , Very Easy

    While I was at work today Norm my pal who is helping me with the bike came over and fitted the Side Mount Tail Light , Rear Indicators and the $29.00 Front Gaurd.

    He also made a Plate to fill in the Tail Light Hole

     

    The Gaurd was a bargain at $29.00 ,,knocked down from $161.00 US . the only thing was that it was to fit a Wideglide , JP Cycles have a Clearance and a Scratch Dent section on there site , Well worth a vist too

    Norm trimed of the Wideglide Tabs .  Then drilled out the Rivets on the stock Gaurd to get the Bracket , then mated the two together.  Smart Man Norm

     

    The Bike is coming along nice ,,,,,
