HI,the problem Ive got is as follows,I converted my single disc front end to a twin disc set up,by

replacing the fork boots  (sliders..whatever)  with a set from a newer harley(tourer).I baught a

bushing kit,and replaced the seals, anyway ,I now have play..I guess several millimeters,it certainly

dont feel right.the bushes seated firmly at the top...are there supposed to be a second set at the

bottom..only one set came with the bushes and seal kit.it just doesnt seem right...I am greatfull for

any and all information.this site has given me a heap of good info.cheers Jay

According to my 2007 parts manual
There's two bushings in the forks upper and lower with the top oil seal. I would strip the forks and replace both these bushes.
top bush 45866-84 bushing slider (2)
    lower 45940-84 bushing (2)
    oil seal 45875-84a (2)

Part numbers indicate no change in 28 years so you have a problem with the bushings. Did you run the bushing on the fork leg before pessing into the slider.?

There is one bush fitted inside the top of the lower Slider (outer) , just below the fork seal, and one bush is fitted to the
bottom of the upper Slider (inner) .
Sounds like you have the wrong combination of 39mm inner and 41mm outer ? (depending on what model/year you have ??)
