    Hi guys,

My 48 Seat finally arrived and I thought I would wander out this afternoon and simply bolt it down like the others but I seem to be missing a threaded bolt that is installed in the rear gaurd using a plastic surclip.

There are three holes in my rear gaurd, one at the front of the guard, one in the middle and one at the end of the gaurd near the number plate.  The middle and one near the number plate have these little threaded pieces that sit inside and look like their held down with a plastic sirclip.  I dont really wanna have to jack the bike up to install the seat or try on pull one out from somewhere else and not be able to get the seat back on.

Has anyone had to install another bolt in their gaurd to accomodate a smaller seat?

    Cheers

Yes, I've had to do it, you can buy them for a few bucks at the dealers.  But they can be a pain to install because you need to get it under the guard and then clip it from the top.

The trick I used was to attach the nut around the sides to a long piece of wire then bend the wire into shape so you can manouver it under the guard.  Then once you clip it from the top you can just pull the wire off.

    Thanks Chops, much appreciated.

In terms of wire, did you use like a coat hanger or something and was the bike elevated??

I used a long cable tie when I did mine.  It was on a Dyna though so could be slightly different.
