I've been through the numerous micron discussions so try to avoid the tighter new TC filters as apparently they will blow my poor old Evo apart...

problem is I can't seen to find any old style ones anymore; anyone know of anywhere in greater Brisbane area where to get them? Stealership...?? Happy to buy bulk to avoid the drama for a while...

    cheers

Mate you don't have to use the OEM filter. Purolator, Bosch, Amsoil, K&N and others make filters suitable for Evo motors. Sorry I can't give you the part numbers but if you "Google harley evo filters"  (or similar) and you will find a few.

I run Purolator on my EVO and can provide the part number tomorrow. They come in a blue color but I just hit them with a flat black rattle can and they look fine. The K&N Filter is considered very good, is available in chrome (if ya want) and come with a formed hex nut on the end for ease of removal. Maybe try Rollie's?

Heaps of choices out there-- if you use a car type filter you just need to make sure the bypass valve is the same relief pressure as the OEM. 8 PSI comes to mind but you WILL need to confirm that pressure. I just don't have the info at work.

if you must have the HD OEM I would think any dealer will have them-- just make sure it's the EVO spec and the parts kid doesn't hand you a twinkie filter...

What a load of old wife's tale bullshit......HD make the new 5 micron filter short filter (HD PN# 63731-99A) for best available filtering on the twin cams and coz of new (modern) better breathing filter materials now days they are factory recommended for EVO use as well.
Riders of all makes welcome new upgraded parts from their manufacturers - Not harley ones though - Woooooo, scary stuff this thing called invention and moving on from 1970.
I use these 5 micron on my EVO and know of others who do so with no issues except better filtering of the crap that fucks your engine.
