Howdy all,
Just a quick survey to see what you Dyna guys think of the new Fat Bob?
Does it do anything for you? Stir up any emotions?
Cheers
Vlad
Doesn't do a lot for me... don't like the fat front tyre and exhaust, including the slotted heat shield. Like the black lower fork, but only on the Black denim. Might have been better if they were colour coded. Handle bars arn't bad but don't like the black riser. Has twin discs and would like to see that on my FXDB. My 2c worth
I'm a fan of the twin headlights, the seat looks pretty damn comfy compared to most stock harley seats. The pipes are a departure from the norm but I rekon they will grow on people. I'm also a fan of the chunky front tyre look, but agree with RT I don't know that it would ride as well as the thinner wheel/tryre. And you've gotta love forward controls as standard. I rekon for the price this could easily be my future sportster upgrade.
** NOTE: That last picture with the matt black bike, did anyone notice the reflection of the alien's head in the air cleaner.**
sorry, doesn't do it for me
Got the email from H-D when the 2008 models announced earlier this year. Got on the phone and ordered one that day. Picked it up from Fraser's in Wollongong 2 weeks ago (Thanks Kat). Love this Bike. First impressions is it's the Best Harley I've ridden...and I've been on a few over the last 30 odd years of riding. It's style won't suit everyone but the bike has to be ridden to be appreciated. It is so well balnanced, you wouldn't know it's the heaviest Dyna in the new range. Pipes look great but sound shit. I'm pissed off with the twin headlights only being one for high and one for low. All the USA footage shows both on together. Maybe some of our forums technical guys can help with a fix so we can run dual lights. PS: Even the tyres are good.

Yep, I would have if I could have. Love it.
As soon as I seen a picture I went into the dealer to order it that day, ordered July for "should be" sometime in Febuary delivery.
The headlight issue should be easily fixed but if it isn't the part number for the headlight fitted to the U.S models is 69797-08. About $370.00 U.S but still better than riding down the road looking like a bent jappa.
If and when it gets here the headlight will be modified while I fit the ape hangers to it. Febuary seems soooo far away.
Fell in love as soon as I saw one in the flesh , got one on order. After having a Sportster for 14 years & a FXR for 8 years & after the test ride I reckon It"s a grown-up Sporster with attitude. Will be going 2 inch over on frout to stop my boot heel draging in corners .
IF YOUR NOT LIVING LIFE ON THE EDGE , YOUR TAKING UP TO MUCH SPACE.
Thanks for the part number Bli Bli. You'll love it when you get it mate.
I've put a few photos in the gallery section you might want to look at.
Take Care
Got to ride one today at the local Harley stealers open day, first impression "awesome' .
Felt really light and was easy to throw around, brakes great for harley, too soft in the front suspension for me but easily fixed. Most comfortable seat I had ever sat in for a standard offering from Harley. Best news for the day was the one I have ordered has been shipped, looking good for January but not good for a xmas present, still better than February, so if you have one on order that was to get here in Feb I would check with your dealer as it may be coming early
There were a couple blokes leading the demo rides who had spent the few days cleaning and fueling all the demo models and they both said that the Fat Bob was the pick of all the 08 models to ride.
Fitted a set of 16" ape hangers to a mates Fat Bob today. When I removed the tank written on top of the frame in white marking pen was " Phat Robert ". At least someone that works at the Motor Co has a sense of humour.
Good news was that tucked up inside the frame was enough length on the harness to the handle bar controls so that the wiring didn't need extending.
Looks great, not a great pic as it was taken before the cables had been routed down the side of the bars but you will get the idea.
Picked up my new one on Saturday, got a few hours in on it then it started to rain 10 minutes after I got home.Love it.. Has been pissin down ever since.
Have spent the last few days fitting pipes, rack, sissy bar, pegs and gettin rid of as many standard Harleys zinc bolts as i had stainless replacement one's for.
Bring on the sun.
from VTWIN FOURM if ya wana keep an eye on it
Hi. Need help with an international model Dyna FXDF I'm in Australia and have the FXDF Fat Bob. The international models differ in a few ways like active exhaust and headlights. Here the twin headlights are one side on for Low Beam and the other side on for high. This means you only have one light on with either setting. Where the reflectors differ from the US models is the two main bulbs are Low beam only and an additioonal bulb is on in the right hand light (facing the lights) to give you high beam. I'm told that just changing the bulbs to Hi/low won't do it. Any thoughts on how to have them both on together without having to buy the US model assembly complete?
