Recently I started camping out at motorcycle rallies that I don’t have to work at.  I just did Rosco’s Chilly Challenge in Lakeland, FL (USA)  LINKY:   http://www.roscoesmemories.com/Main.htm  .  Last year was cold for me and was unprepared for the 30’s @ night.  I prepared for this year’s event by buying a great tent  and packed up other gear.

    ·         “NEMO ASASHI 4P GARAGE”, foot prints for both,  and 2) 8’X10’ cheap tarps.

    ·         40º sleeping bag

    ·         Coleman Air Mattress w/electric 12V pump.

    ·         Oversized insulated blanket

    ·         Under air mattress rubber/wool (cold ground) isolation blanket

    ·         Pillow case

    ·         Piko Chair

I put all into a waterproof compression bag than inserted it into a cheap Chinese sports bag.  I compressed it down with straps than secured it with one 12’ web strap.  This whole package compacted down to 15” in diameter X 22” long.

I made a pillow out of a beach towel and zip out jacket liner.   A carry around chair is very handy indeed.

I had previously made removable Shovelhead hard bag brackets for my FXR.  I just added to them by adding a pair of outboard supports to support the gear.  A modified Softail rack protects the rear fender which I leave on.

I secured the chair to the pack via tie-down straps than threw a cargo net over all just in case I needed extra storage later.  My saddle bags held all personal clothing as well as a motorcycle cover including a soft cover cooler.  A very comfortable weekend.
