Well at last I have a few bits to play with. Went to Dazza's today and picked up my Tmax and Bub slip ons. As per ussual was fated with that famous southern hill billy hospitality.
Gonna do the Tmax instal and setup myself, put the puter in the shed, easy chair and beer fridge etc. This is sounding great, might just move in there (might hafta when she who must be obeyed finds out how much I spent)
So now I will hopefully have smooth power with a deep note muffler and Lyndall braking
PS Dazza, 1/4 AF for the caliper pins mate
Bt
lookin forward to seeing/hearing the difference....
now I know why Dazza was on the quiet side today when I rang him... just needed some quick advice on fitting the True-Track. Fitted this arvo. Took three hours without removing the rear wheel. Only major hastle was the rear brake sensor ..... flipin thing was in the way
What swayed you to the tmax after the PC3 Bob?
You did the rigtht thing I am just looking for your opinion.
cheers Surly
The instal of Tmax and mufflers went sort of well, am having a problem with mounting the TMax. There is no room for the original nuts on the Tmax so will need to find some smaller ones. Had to modify the Bub muffs alittle but no big prob there. Ran the bike(with the PC111) to test the muffs and they sound real good Will now go into the tune and setup phase of the Tmax. Got a shock when I removed the PC111, the wiring harness to the ECM was chaffed to near bare wire where the dealer had stuffed it under the rear guard, no wonder some peeps are having probs with the PC111 shorting out etc.
Surly............I decided to go with the Tmax because of the wide band closed loop selftune feature and I wanted a better sounding (and quiter) muffler. The PC111 needs to be dyno tuned with every change. It appeared, once I removed the V&H pipes that the thing was running rich, lots of black soot. The Tmax should run more accurately to the conditions that prevail.
Stix.......... thanks mate your welcome to come around anytime, Will PM ya with my address.
Smaller nuts can be helpfull sometimes
I had the same prob when fitting up mine, luckily I had some that fitted laying around.
Hi ya GREG
Yea my nuts are small mate but still too big for the mounting bolts
What an absolute piss arse is the front O2 sensor wire run, under the battery/oil tank etc, they could make the wire just a little longer or use the OEM wires already there.
Havn't got the puter to the shed yet, will do that in the next couple of days and get the beast breathing again
Hi HO, ye I thought about that, but there is the little question of another party that may have something to say about that.
Hi GREG,
After a lot of stuffing around I managed to fit the front 02 sensor wire under the tank. Yesterday afternoon Stix put the map into the Tmax , that was a barrel of laughs..........NOT. For some reason the map would load but the fuel pump wouldn't start at ignition on, we found a blown fuse to the ECM and replaced that but still no activity. Reloaded the map into the ECM again did all the initialising and still no go, put the OEM ECM in and off it went. Put the Tmax in and no go in fact the Tmax wasn't communicating with the computer at all, we thought seriously that the Tmax may have fried, as a last resort Stix went back to square one, set the map with no specific map name, he got communication with the ECM, loaded the map, initialised, hit the start button and of it went we were dumfounded I still don't know what had happened or why, the map fiddle seems to have done the trick.
We ended up with map 401 for the configuration of my bike, it was as close as we could get.
Will give the bike a good work out over the weekend (with a few spare fuses in my pocket)
Hah Dazza my man
Gotta give full credit to Stix he sure is a patient man, I was ready to set fire to the thing and claim insurance
Gday Karl,Stix, GREG, HO et all,
Well, I've just had my first run this morning with TMAX, BUBS and Lyndall pads, the results are nothing short of...... AMAZING
The torque, smoothness and sound are very impressive, it starts half crank and absolutely no decel pop. To now have had no fuse probs either, got five spares under the seat though The Lyndall pads are much better than the OEMs too.
Gonna give it another run this arvo.
The BUBS sound exactly how a Harley should sound I recon, still loud but deeper without the raspy crack of the V&H
So now for the cams...............
Hiya Stix mate,
the bike is running sweet with no probs at all. The speedo seems to be working OK, might need to check it against one that is accurate but it feels the same as before. I even have 6th gear light working, I can now cruise in 6th at 95-100 and pull away strong without down shift. No fuse drama either but have a few spares just in case I still can't get over how things went that night, it doesn't seem to be anything serious thanks fark. The rineharts are still pretty loud but not as clattery as the V&H.
I'll start looking into putting a mild cam in next
Thanks fo ya help mate
