I have settled on a new Standard Glide (liked the street glide but couldn't justify the extra $5K) and wondering what thoughts / opinions were on the many different options for pipes.... True duals? V&H? Bassani? Reinhart? Slip on SE? too many choices!! I will probably shell out for the Tmax and an aircleaner as well after a few thousand Kms.
Thanks, Wingnut.
I have the V&H true duels with SE slip-ons. The true duels are a bit louder than the std headers but I personally do not find them too loud on a trip.
That said a couple of my riding mates have said they are loud when they are following me.
I have V&H slip ons on my 07 RoadKing and they give a nice note, without being over the top and no crackle. They are finished really well, which is a lot better than some I have seen.If you want performance then 2 into 1 is the way to go,but you loose the typical Harley sound that you can only get from 2 pipes. If you are prepared to drop a little in outright performance, you will more than make it up when you fit the air cleaner and the Tmax.If I had the choice over again,I would still use the V&H slip ons,but maybe the ovals, just for looks, and I am going to fit the true dual headers,to cool the right leg in summer and even out the looks.

Probably best to have a look at what other blokes are using, go somewhere where you will see a lot of bikes, out front of your Harley Dealer is a good start. I have a set of S&S Ovals (SPO's) on my RoadKing and I think you will find a couple of other people have the same. When I ordered my bike I wanted something with a bit of rumble but not to loud as I don't want to attract attention around town. I like the sound and they are good on a trip, not too loud. If you read Heavy Duty magagzine you will see they have been used on a project bike, Orange Betty I think t was. Yep that's right it's mentioned in the other thread about SPO mufflers.
Been posted before....
Can highly recommend the S&S Spo Ovals. have them on my Electraglide. Find that just cruizing around at low RPM they are relativlely quiet. They only loud up when i open up the throttle. Have not had any police/ noise probs (YET!) Bit expensive compared to other brands, but on the dyno tune they were good for a couple of extra horse power straight off!
I think Hogbag has packed his bags and left the forum,so you may not get a reply.
www.biketronics.com/touring.html All the info you need is in this link I think, looks like good prices as well.Have no idea if they are available here, but if it like everything else that fits a Harley,it will be cheaper to buy OS and import than to buy here.Goodluck
