With M&W hosting the 2012 State Rally in September next year, I find it hard to see them selling out before this?
Asked around in the Brisbane HOG club but nobody seems to have heard anything.

Has Gasoline Alley had any impact on M @ W's ?? or Moto BMW in Springwood ??   I like GA's set up. Big showroom and good accessories area. Not cramped like M @W's.

Maybe, M @ W"s should have refurbished their showromm years ago..??It would be nice to see M @ W's be around for their 100th anniversary..

Morgan & Wacker is a very well established brand - if there's any truth to the story then Team Moto would do well to leave 'the brand' intact and trade the two stores as Morgan & Wacker.

There are so bloody many 'Team moto' shops about the place - to me they're the 'Target' or 'Kmart' of the motorcycle traders. Just another bloody mega multi brand fulla cheap arse shit.

Here's a blurb from the M&W web page:

Morgan and Wacker, established in Brisbane in 1917 and selling Harleys right from that very first year, is the second-oldest Harley-Davidson Dealer in the world, the oldest Harley dealer outside the USA, and Australia's oldest motorcycle dealership...for any brand of bike.

Despite the haters having a moan about M&W (justified or not I don't really care) the pedigree above is quality stuff from a purely marketing point of view. It's not something they should re-badge with the cheapie 'Team Moto' branding.

That''s not good news ..I was hoping they would be around for their 100th Anniversary...

Anyone know how Gasoline Alley sales are going ? have they affected M @ W sales ?? I have noticed GA have  billboard ads..Annerley near the Fire Sation and Oxley , near the Railway Station plus radio ads.. GA have must have put a lot of $$$ into establishing the dealership??

Sparkie..if it is true, GA sold 60 bikes last month..thats gonna hurt M @ W..then we need competition..even if it is from a Canadian bike shop!!!

That rumour has been going around for months and months. If anyone has bought Morgan and Wacker, it is being kept a very tight secret. However, If it turns out to be true, I will let you all know. If they have sold, I will be very disappointed. If I had a family owned business that was nearly 100 years old, I would rather stick with it until it died than sell it to someone else (not that Wackers is dying), I would be very suprised if they have or will ever sell. If they have sold, I believe I would be finding out for certain in the near future.

Well, I was talkin' to an ol' mate on Satdy who knows Mr Wacker (is it Mark?) and he reckons it's been sold to a mob called 'Harcher International'.

Why? Coz he's had enough. True? I dunno, I'm just telling second hand stories like everyone else.

A bit like the 'Gasoline Alley' rumours we all heard about months before it became a reality. I was in M&W today and there were a few new faces. And one old face has definitely left 'em coz I saw him wearing a Gas Alley Staff shirt last Satdy at the Open Day.

So there's 'movement at the Station' and 'where there's smoke there's fire' as they say...

As a new member I may be speaking out of place, but I found it interesting that this site has no 'sponsor' section. Maybe if we had this on the site these resellers can respond themselves, in their own forums, to things like this?

By introducing a few select suppliers it might also give members more buying power too.

Team Moto didn't buy M&W. An Investment Company bought M&W and Team Moto.

M&W deserve any loss in sales that has arisen from Gas Alley & Team Moto's HD sales. They (Gold Coast) have had a monopoly
for years and have put very little back into building their brand locally. Their shop is split into 2 sites and you'd never find em unless
    you knew where they were.

HD America told M&W to update their shopfront and premises and they didn't. It's not like there's a shortage of prime commercial property on main roads which could house sales & service plus provide the customer with facilities they deserve for paying the prices we get charged.

Got my near new Heritage Softail from Team Moto & got way better service than I ever experienced from Chris & the Southport M&W shop. If you wanna pay more for your used or near new HD, just to say you bought it from M&W then go ahead. As for a new HD .... I'd go to Gas Alley any time. The service there is brilliant.

On a different note I understand small business retail shops in local shopping centres come under the same pressure to upgrade.

In my local shopping centre, the shops have to have a facelift every 10 years as part of there lease agreement, whether it's worn out or not.

Another cost to small business and therefore the consumer.
