I plan to take my hd to america next year and ride around america and part canada. I would like to know a travel insurance company which covers you for riding a HD motorcycle in these countries?
took me ages to find someone who covers you for riding full size bikes when I went to do a tour on Enfields through India.
finally found this mob: http://www.insure4less.com.au/
it will be expensive though as medical costs in the US are apocalyptic...
too right guys, you can't be sure enough.
I asked for an additional confirmation despite it clearly being stated in their policy & got this (this was early this year so make sure they haven't casually amended their conditions...):
Thank you for your email.
We have attached a copy of the Product Disclosure Statement as this tells you what you are and are not covered for.
We refer you to General Exclusion 22 on page 9 –
22. motorcycling if you as the driver, or the driver if you are a passenger are not holding a current and appropriate motorcycle licence.
If you have an appropriate motorcycle license for the country you are in, then there is cover for medical expenses following a motorcycle accident, subject to the policy terms and conditions.
Travel insurance does not replace normal motor insurance and therefore, for example, there is no cover for third party liability or damage to the bike.
We trust this helps.
Kind regards
