Thinking about heat wrapping my pipes, i have the standard exhaust on my iron with some screamin eagle slip ons (black) and i want to take the chrome heat sheilds off and wrap the pipes up with black heat wrap. Are the pipes a stuff around to get on and off? do i need to replace any gaskets when re fitting? thinking about getting this stuff http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2000F-BLACK-EXHAUST-HEAT-WRAP-50MMX7-5M-6-TIES-/110722032795?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c78c249b#ht_972wt_1189 any thoughts?
I did exactly this with my stock pipes. It doesn't take very long to do and the only part that's a little fiddly is around the O2 sensors. I decided to do two layers to fatten the looks up which makes a big difference, so this means starting at the muffled end and wrapping up to the header and back down again. I wet the wrap to make it easier to stretch and get a tight fit, then used hose clampes to hold the eng on cleanly and tightly. It took about an hour and a half to complete.
Sweet just ordered some, wasnt sure if 10m would cut it so i got 20m to be safe!
Did you just get rid of the chrome support bracket? I think ill spray the muffler clamp black too. Does anyone know what tourqe setting the headers would be? i dont want to over tighten or under tighten them bad boys.
Shit aye, i got it from thermal velocity, they seem to know what they are doing. http://www.thermalvelocity.com.au/
