Removing Pegs

    Hey guys,

Really quick questions, have any of you had any issues removing the pegs off ya hog?

Its not the process that has got me fucked, its trying to find a set of tiny circlip pliers that is killing me.  Did the normal rounds today, Bunnings (picked up a great whipper snipper though), Home Hardware and also shot into a Jaycar just to see if they had something.  No one has got a thing and I dont really fancy buying a set from O/S when I know they have to be sold somewhere in Aus, more over somewhere in Sydney.

    Got any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Waz

I levered the circlips off with two screw drivers and replaced them when I put the new pegs on. The are easy to on without circlip pliars. Circlips were 50c each, cheaper then the circlip pliars, which I couldn't find anywhere local, but did see some that would most likely work in an electronics catalogue. Still cost $40 approx. and would have had to wait til they were delivered and then hope they would work.

And be careful with the spacers that are between the footpegs and bracket, as they are easy to lose

The average Hardware won't have 'em but how's about 'Glenfords' or similar tool shops?

I figure if I can pick up the tool for about $30 bucks or a few dollars over its worth doing myself, dont really wanna pay an hourly rate to a shop to do a task that is dead easy (if you've got the right pliers).

Not too confident on the screwdriver, I'll end up sending one flying or worse into my bike and scratching the shit out of it!! Haha............thanks for the suggestion though Iggy, appreciate it!!

Recommend replacing the circlips in any case and I found it was best to get genuine Harley for a good fit. Youy wouldnt want to lose a new footpeg for the cost of a circlip.

    All the best with it

i have a modded of circlip pliers that i use, ground real thin and bent back slightly, personally i'd recommend replacing the clips if you can find the correct size as the stock HD ones are just shitty mild steel ones.

Yeah I found a set of 4 minature circlip pliers at Glenfords $10, about 3 years ago. No name brand but perfect for the peg job or circlip on brake/clutch lever.

Verdon Brothers in Port Kembla is where I purchased a set of circlip pliers. Also don't use the same circlips again as they are very soft and don't have much spring in them and they will fall off.
