    Hey Campers....

    Yup...another newbie

Considering buying my first HD atm.....tough decision times....deciding Monday on my bike of choice....yikes!!!

Thought I'd hook into a HD group to expand my lack of knowledge ..I am serious I know Jack!!!!

    Prefer a Aussie group too!

So what can I say...I am a girl last time I checked

Had my RE license 2 years and had trouble finding a bike I can  touch the ground on!

    Yup I am vertically challenged!!!!!

Anyway....I'll hunt through the forum till I find where I can ask my questions

so you have RE... make you another West Aussie then.... welcome to this fine upstanding .... lets cut the crap... this mad house of a forum :)

so my first question..... are you going to be taller than our resident gnome who liveth down yonder in the depth depths of the south?

have you taken any of the bikes for a test ride :)

    Well..what can I say......

    I feel welcomed

    Ta for that

Well it appears Red has a fetish for girls and bikes...either that or he is just a plain ole perv!!!!!..so i wont dissappoint...I happen to have a pic of me sitting on a drag bike so I'll chuck it up in a min...and you be the judge Red to see if I am a girl or not.....

So my height is only 5ft 3ins....hence the height discrepancy...and I gotta say I have to have both feet on the ground even if it is a overrated thought!!..lmao...I have been known to fall off bikes....only when I was learning...even did a bitta 4wding in a sand dune mastering my figure 8's...dont ask it wasnt a good sight!!!

Havent booked my open yet as Ive had too much difficulty locating a bike that fits...thought I'd get the bike first then book the license.....

Now Unkey Ho is Scorpo our resident dwarf gnome???....being SOR myself might even be neighbours....

Now as for this insanity aslyum....geezzz.....I'll feel right at home...I am good for a stir and give as good as I get...so watch out fellas you may have met your match!!!!

Oye Tapey.....what model Torana??...when I was going for my license I really wanted a XU1 - but the HR won.....Recoken th XU1's are great...dont see them much on the road these days...drag racing can be very expensive....and hey marriage can last forever....the ole Torana wont....JMHO

Dyna looks cute..but xey...see what happens aye...

Hi FHB the Torana was a LX Hatchback, 308. I put in a toploader gearbox and a nine inchdiff and the motor put out about 400HP. The last organised race that i had out on the street(totally legal of course) a bloke at the start said that my front left wheel came off the ground, so i was pretty happy about that, oh and i beat the RT Charger by shit loads. The only time that i went to the proper drags was in Townsville 370km away, i had to get fuel on the way as it wouldnt get there on one tank of fuel and only got to do 2 runs and pulled a 14sec quarter at 100mph with the engine being 2 weeks old.The Missus and i still miss it to this day, but i love the bikes now.

    Heya FHB,

Welcome to the forum, and from the sound of your last few posts, you might just be crazy enough to make your way around here without getting offended.

And of you're considering the Sportys, My vote is for the Nightster. If it can't be big, it may as well be black.

Phew!!! Ta Red.....well I think i look like a girl....not in the habit of tasting myself...so cant vouch for that one! Think I walk like a girl...
GOD DAM IT!! Frig I is a girl!!!!!...had me worried there for a sec Red!

Ta Scorp...yeah..I am around you ..not far..let me know once youve got it all into one and I'll probabely come and check it out aye....just dont laugh at my current bike..cause it is a bucket!!! lmao...

Andij, hiya..got a feeling Ive sat on a Vrod and it either was to heavy for me on the top end or it had a knackers tank.....gotta have that slim line tank otherwise I feel as if Ive spent the night with Keanu Reeves! OH I WISH!!!!!....btw anyone know his address??..lmao..

Tapey..now the ole LX was my second favourite car..they were a beefy peice of machinary in my opinion they looked nice....love the 308's..had one myself in a ole HQ...top loaders were a good box too......Chargers??...I didnt think much of them........bits of buckets to me..Only other car I liked was the Cobra when that first come out..I am particule (sp) to the Monaros from the mid 60's. HK/HT I think....14 secs isnt to be sneezed at.....ever thought about draggin bikes?????....there is something about the drags.....not so much the motorplex over here....it is "cute" but Ravenswood was the real drags to me......

Bear :) me get offended??..nah.......not likely...get the piss taken outta me all the time......water on a ducks back mate.....Ive worked with blokes alot hence youve got to be a bit thick skinned....oh and give back triple fold to ya know!!!!!..bwahahhahahaha

Phew!!!! as the saying goes once youve had black you never go back!!!!!

I've pretty well decided gotta check out the Nightster.......and one of them low riders......IVe just always had difficulty finding a bike that I can touch the ground on..been looking for 18 months now...just local....got so over excitied when I sat on both the 883 and 1200 and I felt the earth!!!...small minds so easierly amused aye!!!..lmao...

    Hi FHB.
Just so you feel at home, I'm 5'3" too (160cm). I've ridden many bikes over the years, and have had 3 HDs. My first was an 883 Sporty, next a 88ci Lowrider, and now I've got an 07RKC. The first two I could handle without mods. The RK needed some serious suspension work. I agree with sycle1 that having your feet on the ground is not necessary, but you really need to be alert ALL THE TIME at low speed, otherwise you put yourself in dangerous situations (eg stopping where there's a steep road camber and putting the wrong foot down). Tall people don't really understand.

If I were you, I'd really try not to shorten the suspension, because the ride suffers. The best thing to do is get a narrower front on the seat, and reduce the seat padding.

    Gonzo.

And welcome from another 5'3" "girl" :D
I have the sporty nightster and LOVE it. But the stock suspension sucks if you ride anything other than smooth highways. Same for the 883L, so if you are thinking that way you may want to budget for some new shocks. Plenty of folk just live with it, but you spend your entire ride surface scanning, slowing for corners and dodging bumps. But you'll be able to get those feet down which will help with your confidence. Also spent some time on the Dyna Street Bob; nice ride but on my toes when stopped, mostly due to the extra width at the primary compared to the sporty. Babysat a mates Softail Heritage last year, a whole different ride to the sporty and dyna, but feet were down confidently even around the footboards and the custom is slightly lower again. Only problem with it is the regular scraping of footboards.
Good luck with finding one ya like.
