Just raising a interesting topic on gloves. As most of us riders wear gloves when we are on the road. Haw Eva i all so have seen riders have no gloves on all so. Which raisers this topic as i recall it is not compulsory to wear gloves on Australian roads.

My Question to you all is are you a gloves on or gloves off rider ?

It's just like all our gear, the helmet is the only thing you have to wear.

    Haha soapbox

I always wear gloves, hands are pretty important I think. I always want to be able to wipe my own arse at the least. Plus natural instinct when falling is to put your hands out so more than likely they'd get fucked up in a stack

A belt sander spins at 30kph so falling off even at 60kph and having your hands hit the road is twice as bad as putting them in a belt sander.

Have ridden bikes without wearing gloves  for many years, mainly off road before going to a Harley. When racing motocross and enduros, I found I found it more comfortable without gloves. Being from Queensland and fair skinned, I now have sun spots on the tops off my hands, and now always wear gloves for sun protection.

I bought gloves for the colder months but always wear them on longer rides, mainly for sun protection, but after reading the above posts think i'll be wearing them more often.

Depends what and wear. like the helmet, if a big run, wear gloves and full face, if ducking down to the shops, open face and big grin. On the country runs i have a tendancy to hit bees and wasps from behind, three on the hands and two on the face in six weeks. Bloody nature!!

Since I was tempted to go no gloves in the summer months I compromised and got a pair of Zorro's summer gloves - they are thin and have holes in them. I've came off (not on the Harley) on the road once - thanks to a dickhead dog and gravel - and despite having thick gloves on at the time my fingers and palms felt "burnt" for weeks and the state of the gloves told me I got off lucky.

Gloves on cold days or freeway rides. Otherwise no gloves. The skin cancer is something to think about though. I might make sure I do the sunscreen thing on future rides.

Definitely gloves for me. Seen too many crashes when I raced to contemplate riding without the right gear. If I asked someone to jump out of my car at 60kmh they'd think I was mad, yet you see so many shorts and singlets etc on ricers in summer, it makes me shudder. Especially the girls on the back with short shorts, singlets and thongs.....

    Yep, a gloves ON rider.

But, everyone makes up their own mind.
