No idea if this is old news, but Vicroads just sent me an information update saying Vic motorcycles will be changing thier number plate system.  The new plates will be number, letter (dash) number letter letter - for eg:  2F-3GN

The letter goes on to say they've done this because the other system is too close to "other vehicle types (such as cars with personalised plates) - this can cause confusion in the community."

I agree, how many times have people asked me "are you riding a bike or a car with personilised number plates?"  Now I can just point to the plates and tell them how fucking stupid they are.

 

Changing plates isn't manditory btw - unless you lose em or need new ones or buy a newly registered bike.  And don't worry - they will charge you if you want to swap over to the new system.  *phew*

Just replaced my damaged plate and had to go to the new system.
Apparently they were running out of the old style !

I got one of the new plates back in August when I re registered...

Boof & I got new bikes in March, both our plates are the new system!

I got my Street Bob in November last year and it starts 1B-
