Hi All,
My dog decided it was a good idea to get under my cover on my 3 week old new baby and chew the ABS cables on both the front and rear brakes. The brake cables are fine but the ABS cables have been cut.
There is no cables in the country and the wait is said to be 2-3 weeks, I am a little dubious about this as I was told a new brake line cable for my apre hangers I bought when I purchased the bike were to be here in 2-3 weeks but I am still waiting nearly 2 months on.
A couple of guys at the dealership said that if the brake cables havent been touched it ill be fine to ride until they arrive, it is just you wont have ABS, but one guy said not to ride it because it will confuse the computer as it will be looking for the ABS.
Anyone have any thoughts? It is finally clearing up and it looks like my bike will be sitting in the garage until parts arrive.
Hi all...I say ride the bike if the brakes work ok.Id give the dog a dose of lead also.
Good luck with the cables mate. A good friend of mine has been chasing front brake cable (Ape Hangers) for his 2011 softie for 3 months. He was told all sorts of stuff from dealers along the east coast of Australia. He found out the other day that there is none available in Aus and the U.S.
Funny you say that Robbo.
I bought my bike on Aug 23rd and was told the bike would be ready in two or three weeks once all the parts arrived.
I was mucked around a fair bit by the salesman (would never buy a bike form him again) and was tld 2-3 weeks every week for a month. One day I rang and he wasn't in so they put me through the Dealer Principal, I found out they weren't waiting on everything they were just waiting on the brake cable. I told the salesmen when I bought the bike, if the cable is going to be a while build the bike and I'll just do the bars later. Anyway ended up doing that but I am worried the ABS cables are going to be like the brake cable for the ape hangers where I end up waiting for ever.
They still havent arrived 2 and half months later.
good luck trying to claim from your insurance company IF you ride it with part of the braking system cut out & have a prang...
Yeah I know.
I think it's safer to wait for the parts all round.
Check with Paul Yaffee shop in the states he can make your cables up for you.
P.s. Is he still your best freind ??? lol
