Spot on Hilly, no need for apologies, it was a cool ride.

Rented the bike in Rome and took off headed North, winged the whole trip.

The only real plans we had was to do the Stelvio Pass, and I promised my Daughter that we'de "do lunch in Monte Carlo"

Daughters birthday the day we did Stelvio, so the stop on top was kind of special.

Everything else on the way was just as it happened and we went where we felt was right at the time.

Rode straight up the guts of Italy till we hit Bolzano, then cut West to pick up the Northern side of the Alps. That took a couple or three days and just as well cause it had snowed while we were on the way there. The gamble payed off to keep going as by the time we got there the sun came out, they cleared and opened the Pass and Roberto was our Uncle, across we went and down the other side to start our ride south towards the coast, Genoa, then West to Monte Carlo.

It was a tad cool up in the Alps, but weather wise we were blessed everywhere we went, sort of. It was around the 25 C max mark most places we went down out of the hills, and the ride back to Rome around the coast from Monte Carlo was magnificant, apart from when we hit all the road closures around La Spizzia, caused by big mobs of rain and mud slides the night before.

Sort of worked out alright for us though as we had to figure out a way around all the closures. Back track and up North again to get around all the drama along the coast between Genoa and La Spizzia, we found some pretty amazing mountain passes that were not on the tourist map and got really blown away by the Southern Alps back roads and scenery. In fact, in some ways this back country was even better than the well known and infamous Stelvio and other popular passes..

The Autostradas were pretty cool too, nice being able to sit on a dollar sixty most of the time, apart from when having to swing into the slow lane to let a Audi, Beemer, or Volvo scream past ! and fungula, some of those dudes were screaming.

Nice ride, Italy is a country that appreciates and caters for riders, plenty of everything one needs, fine machinery, food, accommodation, refreshments, 98 premium everywhere,,, and my, how the women look after themselves,,, (nearly as good as the roads).

Did just over 3000 k's in 8 days so got a lot of sightseeing and doing in.
