G'day everyone, I am looking very hard at buying a 2001 Dyna Super Glide so a few quick questions.

This bike only has 38950kms on it which is low for a Harley motor but since this is my first Twin Cam is there anything I should look out for.

I have been told the 99/2000 motors had trouble with the cam bearing failing and metal going though the oil pump pick up but the later models had this problem fixed.

Is there anything else I need to know about these motors, I owned a 91 Super Glide and it was a fantastic bike and I know the EVOs have proved themselves, don't get me wrong I know the Twin Cams have been out for a while now but I have also seen some of these motors have had a full rebuilt as low as only 20000kms.

Anyway any feedback good or bad will be helpful but I feel pretty sure that this bike is going to find a home with me cheers.

Can't help you too much Choco in regards to reliability but my 2000 Super Sport is soon to click over 100,000k's. It had a rebuild at around 60,000 I'm told (due to previous owner running it out of oil) and it wasn't really looked after after the rebuild being a go between bike for a panel beater between his shops, covered in overspray, dirt bike front guard. Its had a few quirks of late that were fixed quite easily, nothing internally with the engine, just ageing parts etc.

With as many k's as you say it has and if it was looked after I'd say you'd have nothing to worry about. Just keep up the oil changes etc and it should go forever.

    I have a 2001 Dyna Super Glide.

I bought it new and haven't had a problem with it (touch wood)

There was a factory recall in 2001 that can cause the fuel hose to become disengaged from the carburettor inlet (not that it happened to mine).

This condition may cause fuel to spill and burn in the presence of an ignition source.

There should be a sticker on it to say if it was fixed. They put the sticker under the seat on the frame on my bike.

They are great bikes. I love mine.

    Hope this helps you out.

I picked up my Super Glide today and it rides very well I love it the only thing I don't like is that the front brake does not work to well so I going to get some softer pads put in to give it a bit more feel, ahhh it's good to be back on a big v-twin again cheers.
