Was hunting round eBay (as I do from time to time), a mate of mine is looking for a Sporty and I stumbled across this:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Harley-Sportster-Custom-Iron-Bobber-883-/290623338188?pt=AU_Motorcycles&hash=item43aa8036cc

$22k for a 2009 Iron, I love my bike.............but I reckon he may be dreaming............................................................

    Thoughts?

I think 95% of people selling bikes are dreaming considering the price of brand new Harley's now available

Its bloody hard, I have a list as long as my arm of things I want to do to mine, but you just know you will never see the coin again. I shopped real hard for my bike, and picked up an 04 883 with spare seats, pipes, tanks etc with some nice bling and 45km for 7250. Im allowing myself about 2-2500 for extras, then thats it. If I sell in a year or two, hopefully wont drop too much. Then again, once you start.........

I've spent a fortune on my iron, the 1250cc upgrade was enough + cams, pipes, air cleaner, headlight, handlebars, pegs, seats and the list keeps going.........................I agree, what the bike owes me more cash than I will ever see, but for me part of owning a Harley is making it your own.................its not about the resale value, I think the only bikes that hold their value are the 60's, 70's, the newer stuff drops quicker than a hookers underpants!!

The price he has on that bike is out of this world though........LOL

Hell, I couldn't even insure mine for what I paid for it when I rode it out of the shop. The price on these things is the difference between someone who actually wants or needs to sell and someone who doesn't want or need to.

Thats a bit rough about the insurance Ross, you tried a few different providers?

Yeah but in the end with mods it wasn't going to match up. Lucky I don't plan on using the insurance, just paying the premium!!

Can get a brand new 2020 Iron 1200 for less than 17K. That's 5K to spend on mods and you get a 2020 model.
    So yes, he's dreaming.
