Im looking into buying a roller. I have a seen a few that look at Mainframe Austrlia down in Victoria. They are asking just over $5k. Does anyone know of these guys? Does anyone have any suggestions of other places to look?

 Thanks boys. Trying to get my head around all the extra dollars I will need. I dont want a scrapheap in the shed unfinished for years. It looks like around the 5k mark for engine. Ive got about 13k now to start, so after the engine and roller, will have about 3 spare. So should be able to get a decent start.

What style are you looking to build?

Both Ian(walka) and Chopa are stand up blokes and although im yet to buy anything from them have given me alot of their time to point me in the right direction so your first step should be to call them

My opinion if your not going for something too different would be go with a Kraftech frame they are solid and the welds are awesome
On your budget Chopa could probibly help you out with a used motor ex the states

In Canberra. I do like the kraftech, have heard good stuff about them. Something fairly low with a bit of rake. Springer front end, just tossing up between a few different ones at the minute. Its a big commitment time and dollars wise. Just weighing it all up. Got a good mate thats a bike mechanic and he reckons its the way to go.

Bunyip - Sportster big twin? - if its low budget beleive me a sporty bobber is the go as thats what I started and have jumped into a big twin and dollars go quick

Walka - forth pic down with the 300 rear - did you supply that tank?

I am think about building a bobber chopper, around 35 rake, about 2 or 3 inch up int he front down tubes and springer front end. Still thinking about ridgid or softail, aiming more at ridgid but always thinking about ride comfort. The problem I have is the drive train and where to get it, good second hand I want.  I looked At VPW and liked there items and also from Canberra.

Is it best to get the whole drive train first before deciding on a frame and then go from there? 

 Sensational!! I like the sporty bobber. I have an 883 at the minute, and am doing some work on that. Wondering if I should scrap that and go straight into a roller?

Has anyone dealt with bitter end choppers? They sell bobber conversion kits that look ok. Its alot cheaper than building the whole thing. Im thinking it could be a good first "Big" project for me and my mate to do. He knows what he is doing, clearly from all the questions I ask, Im a rookie. I would love to hear if anyone has any thoughts on these kits.

That Roller is for a 1986 to 2003 Sportster, Kraft Tech 180-200 Rear Tyre Frame. It has a 21 x 2.15 60 Spoke Front Wheel, 16 x 5.5 40 Spoke Rear, 22" Chrome Springer and Fuel Tank, This was the way that the customer whanted it,, I sold that one for $3200.00, I can do them with Chrome 60 Spoke Wheels and no Tank for $2995.00

Any more details on this setup? this is exactly the look id love to build.
