Hi everyone and thank you for allowing me into your Forum.

I am an Australian living in Bangkok.

I am just about to purchase a 2009 Iron and I was wondering if there is any thing I should look out for. This will be my first HD and i am looking forward to closing the deal in the next few days.

Is this a good bike for a new owner?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Ian

Welcome mate, look out for loose earth strap under swing arm, and loose engine mount bolts, other than that enjoy. and look out for dickheads on the road!

Thanks mate, yes it is dickheads that also worry me, having said that, if you are on a Big Bike they normaly keep clear and give you some space. Here the laws say that a bike has the right of way and allways is in the right, thats ok but does not help you if you are under a bus. have a good evening,

    Ian

Thanks to every one for your welcome and replys, nice to know there are so many nice people out there. I have been slow to reply as I am still getting to grips in using this submersable lap top and working in a wet suit and aqualung......
Things are not so bad where i live and work, but over 60% of this country is under water. Many people are effected but the Thai people are strong and will take this in there stride and bounce back very quickly.
On a positive not, the place has had a good wash...
Take care every one and ride safe.
    Regards Ian

    +1 on the sporty

I had my softy in for service and they gave me a new sporty as a loaner for the day and I found it really nice and light and nimble in traffic.
