Yesterday was going to a good day. After all the rain, a chance to go for a blat. Due to the Barry Sheene Ride, mate & I decided to go the other way, & from Warrigal, headed off to Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance. Passed the BSR between Traralgon & Rosedale. Bloody Awesome. All those cops from Mildura were there ,(LoL), & I've never seen so many bikes together at the one time. I hope someone got video.
Anyway, on the way back, heaps of bikes parked at different towns. What a collection of bikes. Plenty of Harleys, along with a lot of "golden oldies" being bought out for the event. Stopped & talked to the owners...they sure loved their bikes. You would pay money to walk around these highly desireable & collectable bikes...absolutely everything known to science was on show. Fabulous. (A lot were just going for the ride & wern't going to stay at the Island).
Stopped at Traralgon for fuel & coffee, & I thought I had stepped back in time. My 1st bike, when I was 17 (in W.A. you could get your license then) was a BSA Gold Flash 650 twin. My next bike was a Triumph Bonneville. You wouldn't believe it. I had parked alongside A Gold Flash & & Triumph. The owner of the BSA had owned the bike for 39 years, & had bought the bike out from Pommie Land when he came to Oz. Who could forget nearly getting thrown over the bars with those (sometimes) infamous kick starts.
Although the Triumph wasn't a Bonny, It turned out to be an immaculate looking Thunderbird 900. It looked new. but was a dozen years young & had just recently been purchased by another Forum member, Paul, aka "TheReg". Was good to see him again, as we had ridden together previously. What a great day. You really would have drooled over some of those bikes. Ahhh....you wouldn't be dead for quids. (Sorry, showing my age).
