Hey Guys I'm Baaack!
Just got home after 5 weeks and 1 day travelling just over 9000kms and 4 states. I'm home just in time for Rocky HD Open Days with the Metal Mayhem Tour in Rocky for two days this weekend. Jill and I will be helping out over the weekend at the shop so if your coming say hey to the Bald guy in the Harley shirt... or look for the HDF patch.
I'm looking forward to ringing the neck of a few 2012 models. Been in bike withdrawals since heading off on our trip.
"RHD Open Day on Saturday and Sunday 15th and 16th October. Some test ride spots available on Sunday still so get in quick. Airbrush artist on site to customise your gear. So come along for food, music and fun."
We had a great weekend even with a very wet start to Saturday.
My 1st oppertunity for a ride was on the new 10th Anniversary V-Rod. This bike really impressed me with how quick they are right out of the box. Handles nice but I'm still not a fan of the look but it's growning on me.
Next was the Road Glide Custom. After riding the V-Rod it felt like a slug and for most of the ride I was distracted by the radio. It was a nice bike but not for me, well not for at least 10 or so years. But it did have the best exhaust note out of all the stock bikes.
For the rest of the day the demo bike were booked out so I took the Misses mum for her 1st Harley ride and escorted the demo bikes.
Sunday I had my name on two bikes I really wanted to ride. 1st up was the Switchback. I had my misses on the back as the next HD we buy will be hers. The bike felt very comfortable and was quiet torquey and easy to throw about in the corners. The two into one exhaust sounds crap and it would be the first thing I would change and the screen had an anoying whistle from 60 to 80kmh. I few other complained about vibration but I only noticed it if lugging in a gear too high. Overall it was a very nice bike to ride and would welcome one in my garage beside the Fatbob.
As for the colours. Red didn't do it for me but RHD also has a Silver and Black ones in the showroom. The Silver is the best looking out of the lot with the contrasting black rims.
2nd was the Wide Glide. It was just fun to ride. The riding position just felt right and the steering was a little twitchy at first but soon got used to it. The shocks were set too soft as being two up the bike bottomed out a few time and we scrapped the exhaust at every roundabout. With some small adjustment I could have a lot of fun with this bike.
Also Als1200 got on a Streetbob and Evoshovel swapped the shovel for a ride on a CVO Springer.
