SMIDSY or Sorry Mate, I Didn’t See You, is a term we’ve heard time and again through our work with hundreds of motorcyclists who have been seriously injured on our roads. Many have incurred life changing injuries because of the failure of other road users to pay adequate attention when driving. There is an assumption by the authorities and the media that motorcyclists cause or contribute to their own injuries through reckless driving. The reality is often very different. The lack of awareness from motorists is often the cause. Motorcyclists are legitimate road users and have the same rights as everybody else on our roads. Enough is Enough. Unlike TAC we believe when it comes to road safety it’s not just down to motorcyclists; it’s up to everyone. Good one Cougar. As a Rider and a recovering 'crashee' I wish the page all the luck in the World, but let's face it, the only people who REALLY see motorcycles are other motorcycle Riders whether on their bike or in their car.

I nearly had my own SMIDSY a while back, entered roundabout ,another bike already on roundabout turning right, we both shit ourselves seeing the other, no touch but close, around here in CQ we have shrubs ,trees signs and shit on the roundabouts that makes it hard to see a car let alone a bike behind the crap, another pet hate is the give way signs etc, why not put em up more than a meter off the ground , hard to see thru a metal sign and if you are turning right into traffic and theres a bike coming the other way there is a moment in time when it is not visible at all, and at 60klm an hour that moment turns into a Tboned car and a SMIDSY ( if you havnet killed the guy that is )
