Hi Steve,
turn the ignition on, pull the 40A fuse. done. Main 40 amp fuse is above the battery close to the fuel tank. You need to remove the cover of the Fuse holder.

no need to lift tank off.

it sits under the seat so should be visible once the seat is removed.

As Scotty said,if you remove the battery leads while the ignition switch is turned ON,then you run the risk of spikeing the ecm,it only takes mV to fry the ecm,so be very aware.
