..got home from a ride to find a mass of oil pissing out of bike.. after inspection to find the plug that had been installed by my local steeler had dropped out... can't take any further action with them.. as the've 'gone to the wall' and no longer exist.. and it's probably been too long, since having forward controls fitted..

This is the replacement plug used for plugging the gear shift shaft lever.. when forward controlls are installed.. I have sent enquiry to Mackay Harley in Queensland about getting one.. but, thought while I wait for a reply, make enquiry here.. as I know in the future someone else will have the same issue..

Is there any reason I could not, just find some sort of plug, close to the inner diameter of this (pictured) and run a bead of silicon around it... ?

I'm not sure if this is the exact plug.. as I've seen it on the Dennis Kirk website.. listed for up to 2007 models.. and as mine is a 2008 FXD Dyna Super Glide, would not order part until I could confirm correct unit..

    Any ideas..

    Cheers

Gday Noodle, it is not as easy as replaceing the plug.

There should be no oil behind the plug

Have a look at what i posted on 28 jun 2011 Primary oil leak.

Sorry you will have to search for it ,i dont know how to bring it up for you.

    Cheers Stewy
