Security fob Problem

Ok, so i bought a Harley 48 from Perth. It was shipped from Perth to Sydney with the battery disconnected as the shipping company requested it.

I have got it home and hooked it back up to the battery after charging it. The positive and negative terminal have been unattached from the bike.

I have the original fob and key. Battery is at full charge.

I put the battery back in the bike and when i turn the ignition nothing at all happens, no lights nothing. I realise that something may have happened at the disconnection phase but am not able to find out. All fuses are good and i think its omething do with the immobiliser.

I also do not have the owners manual and cannot move it easily to the dealer.

Any ideas what to do next?

    Cheers

Hmmm, silly question, but have to start at the begining,,,, has the fob got a good battery in it?

I highly doubt the fob has anything to do with it.
    Is the main fuse installed?
It is standard practice to remove the main fuse prior to disconnecting the battery(or else of course the alarm would sound), and I imagine it has not been reinstalled.
If the fob battery were flat, the alarm would sound when you turned the key on. It really is not involved in the main power supply.

Maybe even a call to the people that preped it for shipping may be worth the effort?

(is there a transport mode that the alarm is set to before transport? )

I'm with the guys above. If there is power in the battery, then you should get some life when you turn the key. If not - then something is preventing the battery from running power through the bike. And yes... even if the FOB were flat, it would let you know you turned the key. LOL!! I do it all the bloody time. :)

How about having a look at the owners manual, page 148/150

    All sorted thanks fellas.

Turns out the simple solution was the answer. There was no fuse at all in the mian fuse port. Made one up out and she fired straight up.

Was looing for blown fuse, not a missing one.

Yeah i know i am a bit of a dill.

There are so many open plugs that dont plug into anything hanging off these 48's, its amazing. They must plug into diagnostics etc.

This is my first Harley so i am exciting to learn about how it all works, i have learnt a lot already, so thanks for all the help.

    Mick,

Serial numbers for hand free FOBS are elctronically assigned to the HD Smart Security System so that the module (the one on your ride) can recognise a fob's un ique signal.  Only two fobs can be assigned to the module at any one time.

Replacement fobs can be purchased from a dealership but can only be asssigned to the motorcuycle by a trained HD technician.

You are able to replace your fob battery without causing any issue to the secuirty system.
