Hello, my first time here. I was talking to a local man today who has two 1943 Harley motorbikes still in original wooden crates. They have never had oil, water or even air in their tyres. He is doing it hard at present and wants to sell one. He was wondering what the best way to sell the motorcycle would be. They are museum items I would imagine, and maybe the Company would be the best approach for him. Hoping someone can assist me with this.
Cheers
MissFitz
Hey Hilly, not at all. He seems genuine. Told me how his dad acquired them, he is blind in one eye and can not ride. He is in his early thirties and wants to buy a house because he has two young children. He gave me his mobile phone number which I will gladly pass on to anyone serious about helping him. He has no internet and doesn't know the best way to sell the one he is willing to let go. Obviously he knows they are valuable, being complete and "virginal". Side shift - are they the ones called suicide sticks?
Cheers for your reply
Hey Brucecul
I only met this guy today, I really believe he is genuine. He comes across a bit simple. I live near Warwick Queensland, we have a farm. If you know our area you would know the families around gere have been here for over 120 years, our own since 1854 actually. These farms have a collection of "crap" and some gems on them. When the last of old families die their treasures are sold cheap or even given away. We ourselves have two old Fargo trucks (one a Wells Fargo the other a Dodge Fargo) and an old WW2 Studebaker. I haven't seen the bikes but he willingly gave me his number to pass on to anyone who could help him. Sorry that you think I am scamming, and I really hope he isn't crapping with me. I asked a few friends who also ride and they said this forum was the best place to ask.
Missfitz, Sold, I'll take it, please PM me the phone number. Cheers.
Hey Rider,
just browsed and found the PM section. Sent a message to you. Good luck with the bike
Lisa
Thanks MF, message received
Hey again,
I truly hope after reading the scepticism in these posts that this guy is the real deal. If not this district is too small for him to hide in I can assure you all. His name and address and numbers will be posted for all and sundry to do with as they please. Again I repeat he appears legitimate. I am a Yamaha rider, but have some Harley friends who advised this forum as the best avenue. Apologies if I was wrong in approaching you guys.
Hoping for a fairytale ending not a complete fairytale
If this was legit and the bikes were from 1943 and in brand new condition, to sell them all he would have to do is post pictures and actual details. Not having that and having some second hand story is what makes it sound like bullshit.
For the sake of the sanity of everyone on the Forum, PLEASE someone up that way go take a look and let us know.
Thanks for the tip MizFitz . What a treat if they are on the level. (I have no idea how anyone could manage a scam like this anyway - too easy to confirm the facts, especially since you'd think most buyers would be well informed to be interested in the first place).
Fuck off missfitz and put your bullshit story on ebay
OK, update,,, just called the mobile phone number PM'ed to me by Missfitz.
Hello,,,, given this number by someone in Qld regarding a guy that may want to sell one of two old Harleys he's got?
Sorry Darl, no one here got a Harley for sale,,,,,,,,,
Is this (phone Number)?
Yep, but as I said, no one here has got a harley for sale.
OK, thanks.
Interesting thing,,, the chickie that I spoke to was actually in Warwick, Qld.
Time to chime in again Missfitz,,,,,,
Hello
Rider I am sorry that was the response you got. I met the guy "Tim" last night. I will definitely be chasing him up this end and as I said posting any of his details here. He claimed the bikes came from Legume which is just inside the NSW border from Killarney 25 minutes from Warwick Qld. I had nothing to gain by misleading anyone, I thought I was doing a good deed for a fellow bike lover.
I am at work shortly but shall follow it up tomorrow. Several other people, my Harley friends included, have this guys number also so I shall be checking the response to their phone calls.
Interesting MF, for what it's worth,,,
When I asked the chickie on the phone if the number was the one I dialed,,, she had to ask a bloke in the background what his number was,
She had obviously answered his phone.
So it may very well be that Tim was that bloke?,,, who knows what little mysteries he has created,,, and what little stories and lines he has left around that his missus don't know about.
