if anyone else with a later model FLHTCU can tell me:

Under the Tour Pak there's a spring with a a vinyl cover over half of the spring. The spring on mine is really badly rusted and I want to replace it. Shouldn't be a problem hopefully but does the half vinyl covered part of the spring attach to the licence plate frame under the Tour Pak or to the retainer on the headset harness?

 

Anyone replaced these with a better spring that does'nt rust?
