OK I am on my last day off and decided to have a play around with the laptop and my T/max. Do a smartlink update and check for firmware module upgrades.

Here is problem 1.  

When I go to smartlink update everything goes well to a point. It asks me to check for updated....I press check. It then starts to log into FTP and the connecting bar starts to scroll along. It then says in a pop up box (update error) (error logging into FTP site) so I click ok and it stops the update process, but I dont know why there is a problem and with no information on what the error is dont know how to fix it. Any ideas?

Problem 2

When I check for firmware upgrades all goes well, it searches the net and finds the upgrades. It says mutiple files found and shows 2 files one is version 44 which is the one I have already and the other,  The latest is highlighted in blue (EFI_THUNDERMAX-01 version 46_01-2808.B19) I click OK and it says I'm retrieving the file and the boxes dissapear. When I go to update my module only the version 44 file is there and I cant find the version 46 file, where else could it be? any ideas?

Getting a bit frustrated with it any help would be appreciated.

Just as I was about to throw the computer out of the window and swap the efi twincam for a shovelhead with a mikuni my 18 yo son came home from work and said 2 words to me ...........fire wall or is that one word......firewall, I dont know.

I logged onto the computer as the administraitor and i was able to do the updates and get v48.

Thanks again for spending the time to get the links though mate, I get so frustrated by computers not doing what I want them to do that I forget to think outside the box,
