     Hi guys.

Just taken my Street Bob for it's 8k service and after completion was told by the Mecco that the bike doesn't have a tuner installed. I run V&H short shots and a heavy breather air filter and was under the impression the bike had a stage one installed.

I told the guy i have the tuner at home and would bring it in next week(tomorrow).

Question. if the tuner hasn't been installed does this mean my new bike has been running lean for the last 8K? Could any damage have been caused and if so where do you think i stand in terms of waranty etc.

Thanks in advance-just like to get an idea of where i stand.

Probably depends more on how you rode it for those 8K.

If youv'e been ringin it's neck.........then yes, you may have done damage!

If youv'e been riding like an ol moll......... then probably ok!

     Thanks for reply FYO.

I should re-state that i bought the bike new from the stealer with these parts already fitted.I have the super tuner in a box they gave me when i purchased the bike-surprised they didn't mention this after the first service at 1600kms.

I rode a rocker that was missing the tuner with custom pipes and breather and it cut out at medium revs in most gears.Mine doesn't do that.

The bike has been dodgy on fuel, however most of my riding is spent sitting at red lights in Sydney!,It also back fires a little.

On starting it's taking a couple of "kicks" to fire even after the service.

What damage does running a lean bike create?

Hi there-just thought i'd update this thread.

Took the bike +'dongle' to stealershit today and they said my tuner was installed but hadn't been updated-whatever that means.

Bike runs even better than before-a lot more power to be had as well.

    All good.

    Thanks for your responses everyone.

ahhhh good... there should be a few threads in here about your installed sert .. many as I do, have the Thundermax, which is self tuning.. but, work together with the techs, in the States, if we have problems.. and can contact them, sending our data via a link with our computers, for advise or re-mapping, that is, to re-upload a new map to our ECM... they often come out with changes, specific to the set ups we have..
Sounds like you may need to do a bit of reading... otherwise, leave it up to the stealers.. pay, them to do any updates I guess..
    Glad it's sorted..

If the tech said that you didnt have a tuner even after you told hi you have the interface at home I reckon I'd be changing my Tech if he tried to tell you it wasnt installed without having it there to check the mapping.

I reckon I'd be expectin' things to change and settle down between new and 8000km as the thing runs in unless its made from some sort of Martian metal that doesnt settle and would be ready for it to be tuned again especially if your wringin' it's neck as you say.

Had plenty with some aftermarket tunerrs that I will not name that have ALL pretty well failed by warranty period and all have been upsold to the HD Screaming Eagle unit and to date - touch wood - all are going fine. Big engines/ponies, mild and standard engines they are a pretty wild mix too.

My 2 bob for waht its worth - probaly 5c at exchnage rates :=)
