    hear hear muffin,

i wonder if there will be any charges laid, sounds like their already setting up the rider......

"Detective-Sen-Sgt Shane Rix, from Moorabbin Divisional Response Unit, said investigators were trying to determine who was at fault.

"Obviously early days, but it would appear that the member has executed a U-turn and if you do that you have got to make sure there is a clear passage way to do that,’’ he said.

"It’s just a matter of determining where the motorcyclist was positioned.’’

Lets just hope workplace health and safety get invovled in this one, which i'm sure they will, well they friggen should......ok, we know this will never happen but the proper outcome according to H&S rules should be : unmarked police cars banned, flashing lights to be clearly visible by all other motorists in the nearby vicinity, sirens and flashing lights must be activated at least 5 seconds before an unexpected manouver is performed....of course that depends on all the details which i have no idea what they are.  Well in my workplace, if an incident or near miss occurs measures must be taken immediately to prevent it from happening again.
But that reminds me of a funny story that happened here in Gympie : bike cop, hiding behind his favourite electricity pole with hand held speed gun, pulled ova a speeding motorist who was clocked on a down hill section, after much negotiation from the motorist the cop continued with his ticket writting skills, after that was finalised the motorist informed the cop that he had something in his boot that the copper should see.....it was a briefcase with all his H&S documents ( he was a H&S officer ) and gave the cop $800 worth of fines ..... there was 3 fines issued going by the story, one was for not wearing a hi vis vest .... forget what the other 2 were for.

Hey, the guy in the crash in Bentleigh is a mate of mine. Im not quite sure i follow or appreciate the was it worth it comment. The dude got t-boned by an unmarked cop that didnt indicate. Hardly the poor bikeriders fault. Thought as a biker group you'd show more respect. I hope im just misunderstood. Was it worth injuring the biker to catch a guy on a phone perhaps? Im sure he's not going to let go of it lightly....hope the driver loses his job and faces criminal charges of negligence and endangering lives. You arent above the law just coz your a cop.

    Hey anonymous11,
I think the title was directected at the copper that did the ewie to catch someone talking on thier mobile while driving.
    Not at your mate.
    Hope he heals well.

    Hey Anon,
You have misunderstood the title, one of our biggest fears as riders is people doing Uturns in front of us. the comment was aimed at the copper who caused the collision as whatever it was that sparked his interest was surely worth the wait to make sure the path was clear rather than going hell for leather trying to book someone who was probably on the phone or doing a few K's over the limit.
I think Phantom somed it up well with
"Over-enthusiastic Highway Patrol officers chucking u-turns to chase some poor schmuck isn't exactly uncommon. "
