Anyone runnin these in their forks?

Got a set ordered from the States for the Fatbob...........good feedback over there!

A lot easier than RT Gold valve emulators to install and don't have to modify original damping rods.

    Appreciate any feedback.

    Hi Burto,
Indeed the missus (Sporty Trace) has had them in her nightster and is happy with outcome. Will ask her to give some feedback.
    Cheers. HB

I've had them in my Street Glide a couple of years and they work great with 5wt Amsoil.

Hey Burto... I think you'll love them :-) Of course I can't comment on them with respect the Dynas, but I've had them in my sporty forks for a couple of years and they made a world of difference. Needed some magic in terms of trying to control the compression better especially as I only had a couple of inches of travel in the short forks and even less in the rear shocks. When I first got her and was stock I was bottoming out easily in front and seemed to have inadequate rebound damping as well, getting a "bucking" effect. This was a nightmare on the original rear shocks which were hopeless for my weight.
So I started where most people start and changed out the rear shocks... a couple of times, till I'd made some improvement there. Then realised how awful the forks were and started working on those... mechanic's original soloution for the forks was 20wt fork oil, so I went from bottoming to the opposite problem and started skipping and chattering across the bumps instead, and just not enough reaction under braking before cornering making me struggle to get her through any curves. Delightful!
So I started messing around with dual rate springs and different spacers and preload in the forks. I was making improvements little bit by little bit. Then the intiminators came out. Put them in and wow. The improved handling across bumpy roads and through the curves was quite amazingly. You will still feel the bumps, it certainly doesn't make them disappear, but the bike "copes" with those bumps in a much more balanced manner. Where before I had to be very mindful of braking coming into a corner, I now seem to have just the right compression to come in somewhat harder and not bottom or have to fight her through the corner. If I hit a bump mid-corner prior to the intiminators it was never pretty, very unsettling to the balance of the bike... now she just dips and then carries on. Corrugations are where I've seen the most improvement. I would often bottom and then skip across them before and now I feel a little twinge through the bars but the bike stays stable through the line. The place where I really don't notice a lot of difference is on the motorway... I still feel the road, especially the joins between the concrete, they aren't a "plush" solution to suspension. But once I get into any curves that's where I really notice the added stability. So Yes, I'm a satisfied convert :D
Hope yours arrive soon and you get to enjoy them. Oh, one thing I noticed when I first put them in was that my rear suspension started to kick me about quite a bit more. I actually ended up backing off on my preload a little and changed my damping settings and that made a difference for me.
    Cheers

Thanks for your detailed response Trace............sounds like I'm gonna be happy with the intiminators. I currently just run progressive springs with 15w oil, which, although not ideal, is a great improvement over stock set up. I was still looking for a better front end feel, especially thru corners and under brakes, so it sounds like they will impress!

    Burto,

Got the intiminators myself, haven't fitted them yet though. Debating whether to pull the whole fork tube apart to ensure all old fluid is removed or just pump it out, bleed and refill.

Just make sure to use the 5wt Amsoil, as they are designed to best work with this oil and weight.

    Cheers Burto,

might just be a sporty thing re the Amsoil 5wt. Let us know how you go.

Done nearly 1000kms with the Intiminators in and I gotta say...............very impressive! Bike handles the bumps a lot smoother now and diving under brakes is a lot less severe. Front end also feels a lot lighter now, as in easier to flick one way or the other.

Combined with the Fournales rear shocks, the bike handles like on rails! Feels very sure footed and secure in hard cornering.

    Definitely a worthwhile upgrade!

Yes Grumpy, stock springs and spacers. 10wt oil for the 49mm forks, 5wt for all others.

Well done Grumpy............I paid $300 to my door, so you got a bargain! Not complainin though! Well worth the money.

Re the fork oil............I spoke to Brian from Ricor and he told me that the Spectro 10wt oil I had bought would be fine. You don't have to use Amsoil, it's just the brand they sell and reccomend. No mention of synthetic oils.

Are these just for performance or do they give a much better ride...My softy front end is fairly hard and was looking at progressive springs to smooth it out a bit but are these a better option...I'm not a racer so I'm looking for a smoother ride, not neccesarily better handling...
