I have an older Road King (01) so I can't say how the new frame performs, however I do know that the factory fit the cheapest shit they can get away with regardless of the year they manufacture.
?Have done a lot of research to get the best handling possible for my model and believe I found a solution as the bike now handles firm & sure like a modern Jap tourer. ?After fitting the new parts the difference was immediately noticeable, furthermore when riding two-up the improvements were even better than solo. ??
This was my solution; ??
Front end: Progressive Monotubes - rip all the factory rubbish out and these sealed units slide straight in. Result controlled dampening when braking etc.. Progressive have done an excellent job in manufacturing this product, I strongly recommend remaining with the stock ride height and NOT going with the 1 inch lower option - yes the look may be cooler however lowering an already low & heavy tourer WILL dramatically affect handling especially when cornering, it's just not worth it, same can be said for the rear stay at 13".?
Front end: Custom Cycle - Dresser Triple Trees, stronger clamping of fork tubes with improved tracking.
?Frame: True-Track suspension stabilization device & new rubber engine mounts & swingarm bushes (Trackula). ?
Rear suspension: Ricor shocks, bespoke to suit bike & rider weight, cost around US$650, threw away useless factory pneumatic system. My research discovered Ohlin’s shocks are the best, however Ricor were rated 99.5% compared to Ohlin’s except they are 1/3rd the price.? I was also tempted to use Progressive 940's however there were many negative reports on these units.
Rear wheel: increased tyre size from 130 to 140 using a hub spacer ($15). Wider rear wheel 16 x 3.5 rather than std 16 x 3.
??I know a lot of $$ to fix what the factory should do as standard, but I'm keeping this baby for a while. ??
Hope this helps.
Duplicate Post, sorry
On a chat site it is very important to read what was written and fully understand what you read and not what you feel the post should say in reply to your post. No one said that you indorsed anything. Your name is not mentioned anywhere. When you state that Ricor shocks are almost as good as an Öhlins costing 3X $650 (cost of an Öhlins #6) than either you are poorly misinformed or just are talking when you clearly do not know what you are talking about. If you are going to make statements than know what you are talking about or expect to be spoken to on that subject matter by someone who actually knows what they are talking about.
Not naming names but I think a certain member on here needs to start wearing boxers instead of tight fitting ladies undegarments, not that I would dare to imply anything.
