Doc, it's not unreasonable to expect it to be RS at 40k given the global issues with the 09 OEM comps. HD started putting the new ones from the factory in 2011 (I think-- not sure)?
I replaced mine in the 09 BargeGlide at 20k and am very happy with the new design. No bang on startup, no marble rattling sounds in the primary just after startup and the shift quality is better in conjunction with a SE clutch diaphragm spring. It's an EZ install-- some take off the inner primary, while others grind the hunp in front of the rotor (ya gotta replace the old rotor with the new one).

There has been an upgrade recently to remove the plastic grooved thrust washer, so the new part no. has the designation "-A" after it. General concensus with these is that Formula+ Primary and Trans fluid works very well with the new comp.

Do a search here-- there was a pretty big thread about it not too long ago. You can get one through Luke at Harley Heaven for around $300-$350, roughly.

I have fitted an SE compensator.
It is a sturdy looking unit, and I have noticed an increased smoothness, even with a 103 upgrade.

It rates as good value with me.

I also put the SE on my 07 Softail. Surprisingly the old one showed very little signs of wear. I have noticed a lot less noise in the primary since the change. Gear shifts seem smoother as well and the dreaded clunk on start has gone. I paid $345 from HH through Luke with inner and outer gaskets to do the job. Took a long time though. And you need a big arse spanner to hold the outer nut on the Comp when you do up the lock nut. In the US there is a lot of info on the SEA Comp, along with some mods done to improve oil flow to the inner parts. I didn't make any mods to mine but will drop it in a month to have a look. If need then I will make the alterations. All it is cutting some fine groves with a dremel ti pick up the oil and throw it into the inner side of the compensator. Although the washer that fits onto the inner nut? has these grooves cut into it as well. So there might not be a requirement to do the alterations.

It is a good bit of kit though so money well spent in my opinion.

U have to wonder what the engineers were smoking when they designed the standard one its a very average bit of kit
