top end rebuild

    gday guys, i have a 90 softail custom with evo motor. im startin to get a few leaks around gaskets etc so im thinkin of gettin someone to throw a gasket kit at it and probably a top end rebuild. has anyone got an idea of how much im lookin at approx. and do u guys recommend a bloke im from the campbelltown area.

    thanks to all for the info. the motor itself is fine and only done 45000 k's. its got i think an e27 cam and im not needing to throw money at it to get more grunt.

    now to find sumone to do it and not take me for a ride with my money.

    A quality gasket is all you generally need.
    I have done over a hundred, and have never had any issue with the "leak" problem that others like to mention.
    The James metal base gaskets work well.

    Lifters can break, but so can lots of other things. I have seen stock lifters of that era last for hundreds of thousands of k's (and I mean literally).
    It is always up to the individual, and certainly no one can guarantee any part will last, any more than anyone can know it will fail.

    You really don't need to replace your entire engine every 45,000 kms.
