Met an really nice old bloke who is a dairy farmer. He said he had this old Indian if I'l like to pop out to his farm for a look. What a found was dozens and dozens of old bikes, cars, tractors, stationary engines and more, virtually all in perfect running order and many in original condition. I have hundreds of photos but here are just a few examples:
I think it's a 1942 but looks ex military so obviously had some work, but all before he bought it 20 years ago. It runs perfectly.
Royal Enfield from the 1930s with weird telescopic kick stand. Also had some work by a previous owner.
Fold up bike with Briggs and Stratton engine. Folds down until goes into a duffle bag. (A heavy one!)
A Model Ford - one of several he uses regularly. This is his day to day farm truck complete with mud and straw all over the inside.
Two Bulldog tractors - a 10 litre engine with a single 9 inch piston (started by cranking the wheel - once the engine makes up its mind to fire you know which gear selection is forward and which is reverse. depends upon where the piston is when it fires). Plus a Field Marshall tractor - the one you start by inserting a 12 gauge shotgun cartridge into the side of the engine, screwing the cap on then hitting the firing pin with a hammer. All are in use, as you can tell because he has replaced the original wheels with rubber.
His day to day car is the grey A Model Ford. Note the T Model bus. At the back under the window is a 1922 Graham Nash straight out of all the gangster movies.
WAIT FOR IT!!! A 1906 N Model Ford. He has clocked up 12,000 miles on it since he got it decades ago. There would only be a handful of these in the world. Note the tarnished brass. He is more interested in the machinery than the show.
I forget what this is. You probably know.
I swear to you these are only samples - he has three big sheds chockers with this stuff. He's one of those funny old blokes and good value. He had a very old shovel with a big blade like a grain shovel and when I asked him what he used it for he said he had a contract at the jewellers. Doing what, I said? He said, "Shovelling the s**t out of cuckoo clocks"
wow, there`s some nice toys there (((-;
Was anything for sale Taffy?
Sensational Taffy - I've received random emails of Museum quality 'shed finds' but always from the US or some obscure Eastern Bloc Country.
Great to see such a collection in OZ!
great stuff taffy what part of nz is he from.
hope you didn't dribble to much .
Does this horn look similar to what the 1906 Ford had on it? I've had this horn for ages and tried doing some history but came short as to the era it was made!
Thanks for the pictures.... . There are Lots of OLD BLOKES & lots of old sheds...
It makes me think what TREASURE is hiding away in them ???
