I'm new to the forum, name is Lawrie, just got myself my first HD! it's an 87 Softail that's far from stock but not quite in the style I want... I will post a couple of pics when I can, probably after the weekend... At the moment it's old school style with apes, 09 fatbob front end, satin black with pin striping, lots of chrome etc. Nice bike but not exactly what I want...

The query I have is about fork length and rake cups. I'm going to change the front end over for a springer front end, throw on a 21 inch front wheel and lower the bike. The question I have is what rake cups to get and also length of the springer forks... So if I was to drop the ass 2 inches, get 7 degree rake cups, a 21 inch front wheel and a standard 22 inch springer would this sit the bike level? The limited info I have found has suggested this combo would come close but it was a little vaigue... Has anyone done this before or know how softails backwards enough to figure out the end result?

Just wanting to get it right before I order parts...

Can't answer your actual question however owning a softail springer lowered by only 1" at the rear, I can guarantee that if you had it sitting level after lowering it 2" you would have fuck all cornering clearance . . .
