I have my bike going into Adelaide Bike Works for an S & S 106 as soon as the parts arrive, then down to you for a tune. What sort of figures do you usually pull from a 106 with 510 cams a heavy breather, sepst and a supertrapp 2 into 1? Curious to know a rough ballpark figure is all?

impressive.... I'll have to come down and have a chat.

Have you any experience with tuning TTS Nev?

Nev, I know nothin about dyno tuning or much about tuning at all, other than what I can pick up along the way.

Tell me why are the torque and power curves so choppy, that is not a smooth or relatively smooth line.

Is that a spark timing issue ? Too much advance ?

Nev, yeah the 510's are a bolt in cam for stock compression and it will be the stock throttle body. This is what Blair has recommended to me and it pulled up cheaper than what I was expecting/willing to outlay. Was hoping for around 100/100 to be honest have to wait and see what you can extract I guess.

Extremely impressive results Nev, even your regular results for a 106 are impressive!

Might have to move to Adelaide!!!

Can you tell me what your'e average 103 tune produces? (HP & Tq ballpark with bolt in cams, headwork and low 10:1 comp, 2-1 pipes)

    Cheers,

    Burto.

I had my bike tuned by Pattersons in Bunbury... PCIII and V&H Short Shot Staggered and I got "X"HP

Changed out pipes to V&H 2:1 Hi Output and Andrew 26 Cams and on Dyno in Salisbury the dyno was less than "X"

I am heading to Melbourne for the next week, but when i get back I will see what i get with Nev and then have him tune TTS and see what the reading is... will then put up all the graphs.

......... at the moment I'm keeping an open mind

The heads on this bike must flow some great numbers. How many pulls, hours did you put into this tune ?
People only have to look on Bob Wood's site to see it's posable as wolfgang has a 98 cube putting out 187 HP.

I did a conversion from NM to ftlbs so the tq is 115 std. a simple click of the mouse and you can show the graph in SAE , The Std can add 4-5 % you never know as the weather varys and the numbers will move more with that setting. Easy fix though the SAE will bring it to a number where you can put it on a more level playing ground compared to other runs from other tuners . The hp is pushing 1.23 per cub which is pretty high but not something that cannot be done. I had to go back and forth with conversion as we are not used to seeing the metric system LOL. Looks to be a solid runner. For me to be able to really look at it I would have to see it in SAE on with Hp on the left and tq on the right and RPM on the bottom all on one sheet. Gives you a much better over all look at how it is making power..

STD to SAE does not matter much , as the numbers can be a bit higher with STD , but the NM deal?? that sounds better with a 156 vs 115... LOL I had not tuned long shots in some time, I am a bit suprised on the HP but every combo is different. What 625 cam is this?? S&S T man,

BTW Hi Stixs and Karl ...

Good numbers, just wondering why you use NM for Torque & HP for Power? most would use Ft Pound for torque is they are useing HP for Power.'

also see humidity was 58% for the blue STD run & 25% for the Red STD run have you got SAE for the two?

    Nev,
Got a call this week saying my 106 kit has arrived at the builders and my exhaust should have arrived yesterday.
Dropping my bike to Blair on Saturday morning to get the work done then it's off to you for you to work your magic, looking forward to seeing what you can get out of it.

    Cheers Troy

Maybe a few were a bit too quick to jump down Nevs throat without first reading (closely!) his thread!!! Must admit, it took me a couple of looks to realise the torque figures were in NM.

Just bringing this thread back up cause I have had the pleasure of corresponding with Neville via email and phone over the last week.

I have been aware of the reputation of Neville Lush for as long as I can remember, however it took his recent posting on this forum to pre-empt me into considering him as a possible solution to some tuning problems I have been having recently. I have got to the stage where I am a bit over trying to (thru trial & error) solve these problems myself.

Neville has gone above and beyond as far as I am concerned in regard to his assistance and advice over the last week, all at no cost to me! Although it is around 3,000k return trip for me, I will be viisting Nev at Victor Harbor early in the new year for a dyno tune. I look foward to not only getting probably the best tune available in Oz, but to also meeting a very experienced motorcycle tuner, who will take the time to explain things to you, will offer suggestions to gain the best outcome for your specific requirements and who, it seems, is not caught up in the usual "how fucken good am I" syndrome.

The fact that I/we can go via some great rides, including the Great Ocean Rd, had absolutely no bearing on my decision!!!!!

Will post up the details and results next month.

    Burto.

Like I said before guys do your research before dumping big $$$$$ on new motors and expensive SE upgrade kits,
Australia the lucky country - we have some of the best tuners and modifyers in the HD industry under our noses
and we still entertain the idea that the YANKS know more about Harleys than we do.... bullshit I say......
