Yesterday I just made it to the next petrol station... after 100km city commute. Not speeding but not going really slow either. Refilled 7.3l so it was really empty...
140km and still 1.5l left when I cruise down the bay.

fuel inside and around an efi pump is more so for cooling, if you sit there and let it spin bone dry for 10mins or longer then you will start to damage the pump, running your bike until it stops a few times will be ok.

Fuel light came on at 120km, 20km city riding, 100km barton hwy, rode another 15km street riding. Total 135km. 48 then took 7 litres. Mine is stock and this was its 3rd tank of fuel.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but went for a ride on my 883 Iron yesterday through country Vic, so no inner city stuff, straight onto rural roads. Was riding fairly hard/quick, but not over the top.
Usually my fuel light comes on about 150kms or so, yesterday didn't come on until 180!
Only thing I can put it down to is the Caltex Vortex 95 I filled up with. I always use 95/98 but dont really mind what brand.
I filled up again there on the way home, so will see how it goes!

130km of freeway driving before fuel light comes on. I then comfortably (or stupidly?) go another 30kms before getting nervous.

I did 45km with the fuel light on yesterday. Just started to splutter when going up the hill to my house, but was fine again on flat road.

If i could find a tank that looked just like the 48s peanut but 2 or 3 litres more i would buy it, then it would still look like a 48 not a nightster with a fat front wheel. Still looking.

Went for a reasonably shortish ride on the 48 the other week, 42k's, and thought I'd test the fuel consumption.
42k's on 2 ltrs.....Now I sure as shit dont expect to get 160k's out of it so you can stop typing.
Just for the record...bit o hwy, bit o city, and I took it reeeeal easy.
    still pretty good though eh?

I expect about 160ks now, I changed the pipes to SE slip ons, got it tuned and 130km before the light comes on now with out to much of a problem. First time it happened I thought the fuel light was broken considering I had only been getting 80-90 before the tune.
