Wasn't to far from home when I went to change up a gear and my boot hit nothing!!!.....glanced down and could see the shiter lever on the forward controls was much lower than usua...l so pull over and realised the hip jiont like union had come off pushed it on and continued with a few more stops.......can this be fixed.....or do I buy a new rod with the two swivelling joints?

If the threads aren't stripped out on the existing rod, you can go to a good bearing/bolt supply shop and pick up 2 off 1/4 x 20 tpi HEIM swivel joints. These are far more robust than the OEM swivel joints and will thread over your existing shift rod at each end.

Thake your shift rod with ya to be sure of fitment.

I think the guy that had the bike before must of bought a used forward linkiage ...hence the joint comming apart.......and the funny thing is there are no threads on either end of the rod ......so may have to get a thread put on that end or buy a new rod and swivel jionts......will find a bearing /bolt supply shop and see what they have....thanks for that info V2Evo96...

Ha Ha..I'm not talking about the rods in my neck lol.....yeahI know most rods have a thread on either end but this one just has the sockets so the joint can't be replaced......not that simple.....so will probably  have to buy the genuine HD one........will see what the alternatives are.....get the end of the existing rod threaded and buy a joint to fit or buy the HD set up?.......thanks V2Evo96
