Roadtrain, you're definitely showing your age!
Do you recall the name of the dealership?
bought my shovel at "burling and simmons" (think it was called from memory) in 1982. that wason paramatta rd. still got it
Yes Burling And Simmons were the original Harley dealer in Sydney and they were on Parramatta rd.Used to drool every time I rode past there on my Japper.Never thinking I would ever be able to afford a Harley.Never thinking I would go through the Europen Bike stage, even racing them, til I finally owned my first love
nobody
Ryans motorcycles were and still are on Church st at Parramatta.Good place if you are after old British bike stuff, they haven't sold bikes for over 20 years though.
RT, thanks for the trip down memory lane, wouldn't you love to have one of those beautiful old harleys now.
Yeah, Burling &Simmons, used to go there to get me beeza bits in early 70's. I bought my '84 (special edition early model,so the engine number says) Softail from there, I'm pretty sure that was the last batch of Harleys that B&S sold, Frasers were kicking off just then as HD agents. I can still remember yapping with Len Burling, and I still have a very snug fitting B&S shop T-Shirt! Which incidently I promised to Redfern M/cycles for their T-shirt collection which they have hanging off their wall, might even re- neg on that, dunno. Fond memories. $9,789.40 for the FXST on the road.
Any of you shovel enthusiasts know where i could get a set of bags just like the ones on the new bike in the window cheers
I dont believe your getting rid of some gear there woz.............the wife finally put her foot down
G'Day, Just found this site, a few memories stirred I did my apprenticeship with Burling and Simmons
I worked at Burlo's in the early seventies as a young kid cleaning and uncrating bikes. Rode em around to Rego and places. I remember the smaell of a brand new 1,000 Sporty straight out of the box, Mmm, still recall that.
Did one of them happen to have a pigs head with a crown on it's head painted on the chair?
