I dont know how many times i have heard this question asked, but i havent found an answer yet.

Which pipes for my new 48. I have heard that short shots are to loud and dont mind the look of stright shots. Anyone got some ideas.

I got prices from Capital HD at Orange (great to deal with) and the price for a full set of pipes was only $100 more than the slip ons for V and H

Fire, have a look internationally if you're considering buying a full exhaust system. You can pick up a set of V & H for about $300 + $100 postage, they've come down in AUS heaps to compete with the international market...................................but they're still cheaper!! Work out what you want, sound, performance, look, budget or a combination of everything and go for gold!!

Some of the Bassani pipes are brilliant and Walker (Forum Sponsor) always has them at a pretty sharp price!!

Have you considered a 2-1 system like the V&H comp series?

Something different with a deep note & supposedly pretty good performance. Looks the nuts too.

I dont mind the look of the straight shots, looks like every man and his dog have a set of short shots. If you by pipes from the states what is the go with meeting aust standards for noise.
How loud are staight shots, I want to make a bit of noise but still have a good note.

I am also thinking of getting a larger tank for the 48, but would like to keep the look of the peanut tank. Has anyone used the king 12•5litre tank. Jp cycles in the us is the only place I have a large peanut for efi 48.

fire511 ive got the straight shots on my bike (i too like the look), paid $200 off ebay Australia, with the std baffels they were loud (didnt mind that) but didnt like the tinny sound. so i purchased from HH the quiet baffels (sounded better) but now ive taken the fiberglass wrap off them and i think its better again. they dont have that deep sound that some of the larger mufflers have ( i have sreamin eagle 2s as well) but the look is heaps better (i did look at the s&s turbo tappers but couldnt find too much info). can send you picks if you need them? install was 4 beers (im a slow drinker) and changing baffels was about 1 beer.

Thanks als 1200 some pics would be great. The sound of standard pipes is driving me nuts, im trying to find something and get them on before i destroy the baffels in the stockers ( would like to keep them, may be needed one day).

I would like to keep the look of the peanut tank and get some more kms out of the 48. The priceof a King tank is cheap as from JP cycles. what is the cost of a nightster tank, i see plenty of them getting around.

    Hey Fire511,
I have the V&H side shots on my 48.
I love the look, a bit louder than what I would have liked but looks great.
    Good luck

I might have a closer look at the side shots, they dont look to bad.once I get the pipes on I will see what I can find in the way of a larger peanut tank, as I said the other day it is hard to find a larger peanut. I would of though that someone in aust would of sold a peanut tank.

Go to your local dealer and see what they have there from others and have them fire up some and take a listen to what you like. Hope you have an active Harley dealer!!! That always helps when they have a lot of options!
