I posted here a little while ago regarding getting a new headlight.
I ended up going to a Hella distributer to see if I could get a new insert for my standard 05 Sporty 1200c, they had a really cheap one for $15 but i was not sure if it would fit, anyhow long story short went to the local HD shop & he had a look at mine & noticed that the reflector was very hazy, sort of smokey. I knew this also, he showed me a new one & said that it would be a lot better than the one I had & if I wanted even more light that he had some Phillips globes that would fit in there that will be ok & light up even better. So I bought the HD replacement ($160) insert , but did not bother with the globes yet. It is a lot better than the one that was in there so I thought well that was not too bad, its not fantastic but good.
Well anyhow I was about to chuck the old one away in the bin & put my finger in through the bulb hole to see what the hazyness was on the inside of the reflector only to find that it came off straight away with a stroke of my pinky. I don't blame the dealer for selling me a new one, after all it is his job.
So beware if the inside of your reflector looks a bit dull try your finger & maybe a bit of cloth. I reckon that a bit of moisture has got in there & the heat of the globe has just laid a light deposit of something on the reflector lining.
So now I have an extra reflector & an thinking of putting on dual headlights one on top of the other and am looking for a Sportster headlamp shell, rim & bracket, anyone got one for sale????
